While i'm not buried in a textbook, I try to get at least a few minutes each day where I can to do some pleasure reading. Right now i've got two books on the go, and they couldn't be more different: Soulless (a book about a zombie outbreak after a seance) and The Other Bolynn Sister (King Henry's mistresses/wives) I know, polar opposites but they're good reads! so the question is... what are you reading?

Sadly, I don't have the opportunity to read much these days. However, I recently discovered a lovely little book series by Lynne Hinton (no relation). The first book is called Friendship Cake, then there are four more titles that continue the story of the friendship (lives, loves, heartache) of a group of women from a church cookbook committee. (The last book in the series, Wedding Cake, was just released this month.)

Injust finished a debut book by a new author, "The Things That Keep Us Here" by Carla Buckley. It was really good and a page turner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I am ready to read the new Anita Shreve "A Change In Altitude". I hve a James Patterson waiting. The Lynn Hinton series is very good. I have only read the first but have the second reserved at the library.
Happy reading.

Niki, is it The Other Boleyn Girl, or Sister? I've heard of The Other Boleyn Girl, and always wanted to read it. Is it any good?

I was reading a David Sedaris book, and I stopped while we were moving and haven't resumed. I read Me Talk Pretty One Day, and absolutely loved it. He's just great.
I read excerpts from Sylvia Plath's journals every day. (I know, depressing) However, she inspires me in some weird way, mostly because she is such a poignant and almost simple writer. I read The Bell Jar every few months.

I read a book/day on my kindle. Just finished reading a series by Charlie Huston. I *think* the first book was called Caught Stealing

I am reading rather "dark" books lately. Currently my choice is My Life among Serial Killers. I guess reading books like that makes me realize my life isn't so bad.

Brenda ~ that would definitely be an interesting read, and one that would make one's life look pretty good no matter what Darcy ~ you're right on the title, i didn't have the book next to me when I wrote the post, but it is girl, not sister as for the book, so far its been pretty good! i'm only a few chapters in, but its really facinating

I am also reading two books now. After my first mc, I read the Hobbit. Then I picked up The Fellowship of the Ring. After my second mc, I lost my attention span, so I picked up another book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, by Charlaine Harris (TrueBlood on HBO). It's deliciously trashy stuff and perfect for my grief induced ADHD. Hoping to get back to Tolkien during the summer.

I think it's even a Canadian production company. It's SO addictive. My friend calls it historical soft porn Or as I told my friend, Mel, if Henry VIII really looked like Jonathon Rhyss Meyers, I'd marry him anytime - to heck with the decapitation threat.

Candace ~ we do get the Tudors in Canada, and yes it is a Canadian production. I haven't had a chanceto watch the series yet, but I'm planning on starting this weekend! And your right, if Henry was really that hot I'd have no problem with the threat of losing my head!

I really want to watch The Tudors!
Niki, I was just curious if there were two books about the same thing. I almost bought that book a few months ago, and wish that I had. I will take your advice and get it.
I recently re-read Little Women. I read it every few years, since I was 8, and it always makes me feel better about life.
