Dear Clara, I would like to make a suggestion. Have you thought of maybe doing a retreat or get-together for the ladies here at SG? In the couple of months that I've been here I've met so many wonderful women and would like to meet them face to face to laugh, cry and to encourage each other. Just a thought.
love and prayers, Danielle Rogers

Hi, Danielle! A Silent Grief Retreat has been a dream of mine ever since the SG family of friends began to gather on this website. For those who have already met in person, I really think the bonds of friendship have been sealed forever. Two attempts have been made at organizing a retreat, and we ran into a few problems: 1. Who would attend the retreat? i.e. members of SG only, OR would families be welcome? (There is a BIG difference between the two!) 2. Location - i.e. Where would the retreat be held? Obviously we have members of SG from all over the US, Canada, and abroad. 3. Agenda - i.e. Would we have an actual agenda type of weekend retreat...........speakers and sessions where we get to know one another, or would it just be an " informal gathering" with one main time to get together and then everybody would be on his/her own from that point on? We even went so far as to form a committee, but because there were so many strong opinions at the time, I finally put aside the idea until I did more thinking. I do have some thoughts about a Retreat. I would love for it to be held in the Northeast............there is a Ski Resort near me (Seven Springs Ski Resort), and the spring, summer, and fall months are ideal for holding a retreat. The area is very relaxed which is conducive to healing from grief. We also have some very historical places to visit nearby. And, I would be able to be very involved with the planning since I live nearby and know the facility as well as many of the people in charge of the facility. www.7springs.com/I have not attempted to put together a Retreat in recent months; however, if there is ample interest, I would be willing to help put one together. I think it would be wonderful! I'm open to replies of interest. We can save actual discussion on agenda, location, etc. for later. First, we need to know............... Is there an interest in having a Silent Grief Retreat?I'm hoping that a lot of you will respond to this question so that I can get a feeling about your needs for a retreat. Thanks! Love, Clara

Dear Clara, One idea as to location would possibly be a regional retreat. Maybe plan one for the East, Mid-west, and then the West. If this was a possibility, then maybe more ladies would be able to attend. Just a thought Danielle

I would definitely be interested especially if it were in the northeast (or closer, I live in VA). But I'd love to meet some of my dear SG sisters in person.

I'd be interested as well. Location is that big of a factor for me either. Where you are suggesting is very doable for me! And I vote that all the SG babies HAVE to come. I want to meet all of the little ones whose lives I've followed from pre-conception!

I would definitly be interested, if it were somewhere closer to where I live, somewhere in the south. Unfortunately, I can't travel too far, because money is an issue. But I'd love it to be somewhere closer.

Thanks so much for all of the input so far. I'm going to have to hear from a LOT more of you, though, to see if there really is an interest in putting together a SG Retreat. Let's keep the comments coming! I think there are many more who would definitely like to see a Retreat planned! Love, Clara

Seven Springs would be so great for this North Cental Pa gal! Not sure if I could actually make it now with a newborn but I'd love to try!

ME TOO ME TOO!!! What a wonderful idea. I'm open to travel just about anywhere ;D Though with arranging care for a newborn right now with all the fear of leaving him might be a bit of an issue. Though I think it would be wonderful to arrange it just as a mommies get-a-way. That would be wonderful. Though it also would be nice to meet all the SG babies that we've known since pre-conception as someone beautifully put it. Perhaps arranging a daycare type setting would be something we could do??? I think the location you previously stated would be wonderful...as I've always wanted to travel that direction but never found a reason....THIS WOULD BE A WONDERFUL REASON!!!!! Let me know if I can help in anyway.... Hugs, Em
