Ok so I am being induced starts thursday night into friday. I have high blood pressure and take medicine three times a day to try and calm it down. Friday i will 39 weeks I can't believe after three losses i will no longer have empty arms. My questions are what should i expect. I have ocd so was trying to prepare myself with knowledge but all i find is bad things online trashing women for getting induced. believe me i wanted completely natural but if it gets Jessie out to be able to survive I will do it. Is there anything I should know and also if i end up with c section anything yall think i should know? I have never made it this far so this is completely new to me. Hopefully blood pressure will stay calm so i don't get induced sooner than the 19th.

I was induced at 39 weeks with my first. We went in Thursday night, totally scared. I didn't eat dinner because.I thought I've be in labor soon. But here's what they did. My doctor did an enema, which the nurse said most doctors don't do anymore. We had wanted a Bradley birth, so we were pretty determined to keep it as natural as possible... Anyway, that night they inserted a pill called Cytotec into my, er, birthing channel, hooked me up to a saline drop, and left me alone to sleep. (They might have inserted another in the middle of the night?) The Cytotec effaces (thins out) your cervix, which the baby has to push through. This is pretty important part of labor but not something we usually hear about, since everyone wants to talk about dilation. Well, in the morning they started a pitocin drip, to start the contractions. They also put put t I told them

Gah, sorry, I'm doing this on my phone and my thumb slipped. They also put two bands around my belly to monitor fetal movement and contractions...or was it fetal heart rate and contractions? One or the other. I told them no pain medication, and asked them not to offer it. They came in every half hour or so to check on me and increase the amount of pitocin, which both speeds up labor and makes contractions stronger. I asked for minimal checks because I found it easier to relax without interruptions, and relaxation is key to pain management. I put on an eye mask and focused on relaxing my muscles throughout my body. (i noticed that when I kept my facial mudslides relaxed it helped...because if you tense up, of course it is going to hurt more.) Your body does the work. Um, what else... It felt like period cramps mostly, just stronger. I had a lot of lower back ache and the nurses let DH heat up a rice-filled heating pad for my back a few times. If you can do without the epidural (not everyone can, I know) labor is faster; the epi slows it down. When I was ready to push (and you'll know when) I didn't know what to do so I tensed everything up. Don't do that. Stomach muscles are not really involved. Just try to poo! It's the same feeling, which I think is weird and gross. Don't worry about testing,, if you do, you won't feel it happen because there's a lot of pressure on the area. Most doctors don't do episiotomies anymore b because it heals faster when it tears.
I.hope this is helpful and answers some of your questions. I hope you have a wonderful birthing experience!

Muscles, not mudslides...and tearing, not testing. Phone fail.

(but I wished I had eaten before I went in since labor didn't start until the following morning. And I just remembered, when they started the pitocin, they also broke my water. It didn't hurt, it was just uncomfortable. And I found labor tolerable.. I expected to be screaming and disowning my husband, but I didn't do either. It was painful, don't get me wrong, but it builds up gradually and it's more crampy than sharp. And you get breaks in between contractions. If you're really wanting natural labor, like I did, it's doable. Take heart.
