At my daughter's girl scout troop ....The troop leader's assistant is having a baby shower. (during the girl scout meeting) Im happy for anyone expecting, truly HOWEVER This girl gets on my nerves!!! She has expeienced a couple losses but everytime she sees me she complains about being pregnant. She knows i had a loss in June. IMO she should be grateful her pregnancy is healthy. Not complaining about it. And In front of my 13 year old pointed to her stomach and said " this just took 5 minutes" excuse me but my 13 year old does not need to know the details of how your baby was made. I was almost tempted to say please keep it to yourself. why must this be at the girl scout meeting...LOL thinking of just sending a gift. This girl bugs me. I guess it bothers me because I try so so hard to work on being more healthy and it's clear she doesnt appericate what she has.

she sounds a bit weird. I'm not sure a baby shower should be done during a meeting for girls - whose idea waht that ?

Thank you so much, I was thinking the same thing. Small town here. Everyone knows everyone. I think it was the troop leaders- they go to church together. Whatever...
I was totally insulted she had to go into details then laugh of how easy it was for her to conceive in front of my dd.

You could complain to Girl Scout council about the baby shower. That's not ok. It has nothing to do with scouts!! And it's TOTALLY not ok to tell a child of any age how long it took or any other details like that!! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that stupidity.

When my husband got home i told him about the meeting he said the same thing- that i could complain. Well she had said it to me. But other ladies walked up and she repeated the same thing to two other ladies. So my 13 year old had to endure it three times. I looked at her then she laughed and said oh sorry i forgot she was sitting there.... (yeah she got on my nerves..LOL)

Um, wow. That kind of thing TOTALLY grates on my nerves. And how inappropriate to say that in front of a 13 year old. People who constantly complain about their pregnancy drive me nuts! I'd love to have another pregnancy.

Yeah...I'd DEFINITELY say something!! First of all, mouthing off about how long conception took is not appropriate at a Girl Scout meeting!! Also, a G.S. meeting is not the place to have a baby shower! Good grief....what's wrong with this woman?!?!?!? I hate that you & your daughter had to deal with such insensitivity!

a baby shower at troupe meeting? inappropriate as her lack of emotional intelligence and trashy comment. total creep. I think we all have someone to deal with or try to ignore that says the dumbest things ever!

On all accounts, TOTALLY inappropriate! I would do as Marsij suggested and report it to the GS Council. Sadly, nothing can really be done about her obvious lack of a verbal filter...I am so sorry. It's always so disheartening when we see/hear others take such a flippant attitude about pregnancy, especially for us who cherish it so deeply. (((hugs)))
