So I just called L&D to find out when I should go in tonight for my first dose of the gel to get this induction going. They found the Dr who told me the Dr that is working tomorrow made a big fuss about inducing me at 37wks and refused to do it so they cancelled my induction!! They have known since friday and no one called to tell me so I'm sitting here with my bags ready and my babysitters for my other kids here and now I don't need any of it!! I am so mad and frustrated I don't know what to do. I had it agreed with 4 Drs that I would be induced at 37 wks and now 1 Dr is ruining everything. I am half tempted to just go in and sit there and refuse to leave. It was their negligence in the first place that cause my son to be stillborn and now they wanna do it to me again!!

i'm sorry you are being jerked around. personally, i would have though 37 weeks would result in a small baby and also are they sure your body is ready to labour ? but that's me being anti -interference. i'm sure i would want the little one safely out as soon as possible if i had your experience. If you are very upset, maybe you should talk to the doctors again and see what their plan is.

I agree with marianne. I'm also "anti-interference" but in your experience, I'd probably be doing the same thing. I'd be calling my OB's on-call line tonight. Let us know. (((HUGS)))

I was induced at 37wks with my daughter and she was still 8lbs 7oz and they think this little one is bigger than her. I can't even talk to my actual Dr about it cause he had open heart surgery a few wks ago and is still out on sick leave. I did just talk to one of my friends though and the Dr that cancelled my induction did the same thing to her but she was over due. This particular Dr just doesn't seem to want to induce no matter what. If she hadn't been the one working L&D that day then everything would still be going as planned.

Kristen,
I would be very frustrated with the lack of communication from the hospital and doctor. In my state, though, it is very, very difficult to get an induction before 39 weeks; the hospitals all have policies that there must be a clearly documented reason (such as pre-eclampsia) or they will not allow the doctors to schedule it. I was induced with Sophia at 38 1/2 weeks, and I was present when the nurse put together the order to schedule it. she had to give a detailed account of the reasoning behind it (gestational diabetes that was increasingly difficult to control, multiple pregnancies with very short labor, and the need to schedule discontinuation of heparin for clotting disorder). I am betting that there are similar policies in play.
Are they doing Non Stress tests? If they are not, you should insist on them at this point. That will tell them if the baby is doing ok, so if a problem is developing you can jump right on it.

That is SO wrong!! They should have let you know sooner! With a hx of stillbirth, I would think that they would get why you were supposed to be induced!! I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with that, on top of everything else!! Please keep us posted!

It is very scary to go through a loss and than have a plan for your next pregnancy not go according to plan. I too have had stillbirths alone with health issues but they still refused to induce before 39 weeks. I have type 2 and ic cervix and lots of pain but the doctors do nst testing twice a week and monitor my sugar and tell me as long as baby is doing well 39 weeks is when they will induce. so Monday Jan. 16 it will be for me. As scared as I am I just pray and thank God baby is healthy.
I know how upset you are. Believe me I thought with all the issues I had that they would induce early but it doesnt really matter about the past pregnancies if this one is doing well. Hang in there.
