When Bryson was stillborn at 20 weeks, the doctors didn't think I would lactate. However, my body had a grief of its own, and its tears were flowing white. I felt, that through my heartbreak, I still had some purpose as Bryson's Mommy. So for 8 months following my Bryson's birth, I expressed and donated over 87 gallons of his milk between the MMBO and MMBNE. His milk has gone to several NICUs throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and even Sick Children's in Canada. I know that besides helping others with this gift, it helped me too; to stay close with him, and help me work through my heart-wrenching grief. Bryson is a tiny hero whose legacy will forever live on in the lives of other babies who have begun to thrive due to his gift of Mommy's milk! Milk for Thought had a tour bus going cross country for a Latch On America Tour to bring awareness and support to breastfeeding, milk banks, and breastmilk overall... they heard of our story and wanted to interview us. We also got to meet a recipient family and one of the many babies my Bryson helped! What a blessing! I'm beyond words for how grateful I am that this helped others so much... but it truly helped me to work through the indescribable pain, though I still ache. I love how I can talk about my Bryson without others feeling weird, since this experience has made him more "real" to others. If interested, our blog story/video is on www.milkforthought.com and the video is below... (((HUGS))) to all!

And an FYI, I too am not considering donating after reading your amazing story. There's a hospital nearby that accepts milk too. I haven't pumped at all in the two and a half weeks that I've had milk though, so I don't know if I will be able to pump?? I know I still have milk though. Thoughts??

Babyannie... I'm sorry that you precious little Annie is playing on Heaven's playground. Thoughts a prayers to you and your family right now. These last couple weeks are/continue to be torture to me as I relive my Bryson's last few days with me and then his first birthday in heaven.
I'm a tad confused, you are not or you are considering donating? Breastmilk is a supply and demand kinda thing. If demand is increased than supply will also increase as long as your body is still producing some milk I would assume that if you started to pump regularly that you would be able to pump some milk and maybe as the days pass, you could increase milk production if you choose. Does the hospital near you need you to go through a milk bank? If you want to private message me your contact info I could get you in touch with Kathie Marinelli (in our video) or at least be able to get some more accurate answers to you.
God Bless you for considering this donation process!

There is a milkbank just miles from us, one of the first milkbanks actually. I looked it up immediately after seeing your video!! I have been so sad that I still have had milk in the (almost) three weeks since I lost Annie. I didn't think about pumping until I saw your video but now I want to try. My pump is at my parent's house but I'd like to try and see if I have any success. I'll keep you posted. Again, thanks for sharing your awesome story.

Its very touching that you went ahead with pumping and donating. I remember in the days of painful engorgement after losing my sweet Bryson I thought of donating my milk to at least help others in need... but lactating was so tough on me I don't think I could have gone through with it. Congrats on putting others first the way you have. Its such a wonderful thing. I'm very sorry for your loss.
