Should I wait longer before we look into adoption? I've contacted Adoption NB and they let me know who I needed to call in our local area. I just haven't called yet. Though DH has mentioned he will consider adopting he hasn't given me a "yes" yet. I know we COULD afford it if we opened up another bank account and designated it the adoption process only, but whether or not DH will agree to that is another issue.
My boys are only 4 (5 in October) 2 (3 in December) and 13 months. I'm only 27, DH is 28 in a few months, but I just don't worry it may be a few years before we even get our baby and I wanted to start the process.
This is what part of the email from Adoption NB said:
"The next step usually is taking pre-adoption training PRIDE ( 9 session & 27 hours in total)– it is offered at different times throughout the year – check with your local office to see when the next is being offered.
There are also screening processes – the local office can let you know what these are ( e.g. criminal record check, etc)
A very important part of the process is the home study – usually this is after the pre-adoption training PRIDE. This involves a number of meetings with a social worker.
Once these stages are completed and assuming all goes as planned the person or couple become an approved potential adoptive family."
That alone will take several months. Not quite sure how long. Anyone else gone through that kind of thing? How long will it take?
I don't want to rush into this...but I don't want the baby we adopt and our boys to be too far apart in age.
Guess I could use some prayers for direction and wisdom with this.
Thanks,
Krista
