Hello all. I'm from the TA loss board but my grandson may have a sensory disorder and/or ADHD of some kind. Can someone direct me to any posts that have been written here about these things, or if not, will someone respond if they have experience with these?
I will browse through some of the posts now that might be informational, but if there are some in particular, I would like to be clued in! I have dial-up and not so much patience!!
Thanks for any help, love to all, Gina

I have an adopted daughter who had severe drug exposer from birth mom who has significant sensory issues. We have had her since she was two days old and have faced many hurdles but have seen so much positive change and growth over the past three years. I'm not really sure what kind of questions you have, but I'de be happy to try and awnser any questions you may have.

:DHi Liz. I guess I want to know what can be done to help him. He has a thing about soft material and grits his teeth and/or bangs his head or chin against it when he touches it. He also doesn't like to be touched very much and will run away or turn away when touched.
I'm worried because he's supposed to start pre-school this fall (although he isn't toilet trained yet) and I would hate if the other kids made fun of him. He's extremely sensitive and really doesn't like playing with other kids...he likes to be around them, but only if they don't pay attention to him. Does this sound like autism?
Arrgh, I'm probably being too quick to label, but I don't want him to suffer if he can be helped to deal with this. What has been done for your daughter? Other than drug exposure, what things can cause this? None of my own children did anything like this and I have no experiences with friend's children who might do this.
Any help or ideas and insight into sensory disorders would be appreciated! Maybe there are some books you would recommend? Thanks so much, Gina
ps sorry I didn't respond sooner...dealing with my own severe depression
