Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness!
I am just at a loss. I CANNOT understand the logic behind this! What is it to them? Why not continue with what is working?
I do not even know what the next step would be. Do you have someone there, an advocate or something, who is helping you walk through this?
I am praying about this situation right now.

It's been a bit since I've managed special education, but my background is that I've worked as a site administrator for 5 years. I highly recommend getting a copy of your district's rights for students with IEP's. It should be given at every IEP meeting. On it, you will have the protocol for going up the ladder, can't remember the specific term, to complain or bring in an arbitrator when you are at impasse with a district. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Also, it's odd that the superintendent is involved in this at all. In every district I've worked in, the Sp. Ed. Director handles this and if not resolved at that level, then the Assistant Superintendent. A supt. doesn't have time to work through a special ed stalemate--it's just not his/her job. This sounds fishy to me, but that's my experience in sunny California, not the world. Hoping this works out for you!
