I would love to get one of those!
I don't have a copy of Little Women, or I would join you in reading it.

It's my favorite book, I mentioned it on the other thread!
I'll re-read it with you!
Next we should, for fun, do Alice in Wonderland. I just downloaded it and can't wait to go back down the rabbit hole with Alice.

i'd love to, but i just started a novel study class which has me reading 4 novels (Nervous Conditions ~ Tsitsi Dangaremba, Faces in the Water ~ Janet Frame, Woman Warrior ~ Maxine Hong Kingston, and Bell Jar ~ Sylvia Plath) and 6 short stories over the next 6 weeks, so i'm going to be pretty busy.
I think i'll try to join the book club readings in September!

Okay - first discussion Q: Which of the 4 March sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth, or Amy - do you relate to most? Why? I'll start. I adore Jo - she's always been one of my favorite literary characters. Growing up with only brothers, I was always told by my mother that I wasn't being "ladylike" enough. I felt more at home in the woods than I did with dolls. I also wrote stories when I was younger and had dreams of being an author. I also relate to Jo's tendency to have a bad temper - been there!

This one is a hard one. I relate to Jo the most, but there are aspects of both Meg and Amy that I can really relate to. Like you, I wrote stories and wanted to be a writer. I connected to Jo on this level. I also relate to her when she takes care of Beth, because I have spent so much time taking care of my younger siblings. I have to think about this one a bit more.

I relate mostly with Meg because I'm also the oldest in my family, the 'protector', I also wanted to marry the 'best' but realized that I'd rather have love than money and recognition. But I also have tendencies of Jo and Amy.

I can relate to you in that respect, Kimber, because I am also the oldest. Cheers to that!

I haven't read this book in ages, thanks for suggesting Little Women! I believe I relate to Meg (Margaret) the most. I am the oldest of four brothers and five cousins. I have a small family so we did a lot together when I was younger, therefore, as oldest, I was 'The Boss', 'The Example', and the babysitter of them all! I made bank when I was a young teen. Also, my grandmother's name is Margaret and I really look up to her. I also relate some to Beth becuz of her 'peacemaker' ways. I was always trying to play peacemaker (my brothers always fighting, my mom and her husbands always fighting-married twice) I wanted everyone to get along, I hated confrontation, and peace was my mantra. I am only half-way through the book but I plan on finishing it before the month is up.

Had to turn the book in before I finished but will pick it back up when DD goes back to school. So what is the book for August?
