My family and I love to drive through the countryside looking for wild life. Last night we took a drive to (and through) a forest preserve. We saw many deer, a raccoon, fish jumping in the water, a Great Blue Heron, a bird of prey being chased off by at least a dozen small birds, a Baltimore Oriole and fireflies. We actually parked and watched the deer and fireflies for quite awhile. The children (hubby and I included lol) loved it!
Anybody else do this?

DH and I have always loved long drives! When we were still in PA, we would drive along the Delaware river toward the Water Gap (we lived in Upper Bucks County). Now in CA, we love to drive toward one of the many parks here or out into the desert. We have slightly different wildlife here, though. Along with deer, we see coyotes, bobcats, rattlesnakes, and occasional mountain lions. Of course, that's why I never hike alone!

i LOVE doing that. Seriously, I thought I was the only person who still did that. I even did it when gas was up to $1.35/L which is about $5.40/gallon

We went again tonight...saw several deer and a raccoon. Not as many animals as last night.
Oh...but this morning, something wild happened. We live in a developed neighborhood (that's why we take drives out to the countryside lol). A few blocks away, we saw a group staring at a house. We stopped the van and right on the front stoop of this house (in a heavily populated neighborhood), there was a small fawn. No idea where mommy was. One of the ladies was calling animal control to make sure that the baby was safe. But it was wild to see one in our neighborhood.

I love to take drives. Lots of coyotes out in my parts, rattlesnakes, rabbits, etc. Washington was the best though, so beautiful.
