Hi there,
I don't usually post on this board. Well I'm not ttc at present, I had a m/c earlier this year.
MY dr. thinks I have endometriosis. I am starting the process to have a laparascopy. Has anyone here had one of these done? What was your success rate like?
My dr. has recommended a surgeon that is out of state (and out of network!) who is very good. My dr. believes that seeing this very good surgeon will either clear up all my symptoms and prevent its recurrence OR it will cause the endometriosis to come back much slower than a traditional doctor.
The surgeon has great references (it's the real deal) and is very thorough. I've been impressed by what I've read about the clinic.
In spite of this, I am starting to get nervous as I start this process... and curious to hear about others experiences.

HI- I'm not from this board either, i'm usually on MAL. I had a lap done in 97 for endo after my dd was born. My second dd was born 3 years later with no problems. I didn't have many symptoms in between. I'm sure they have made changes in this time period, but it did help me in a lot of ways. I was on bc in between to try to slow down the spreading. I also did six months of lupron shots at one time. I have 3 l/c and 2 angels.....
I just had a partial hysterectomy done because i'm done having children due to complications, but from my experience nothing i did stopped it from recurring. It helped me to have my children, but when they did the surgery and removed my uterus, my dr said it was filled with endo, that it was one of the worst cases he has seen in quite awhile.
I think it's worth trying - i know quite a few people who have gone on to conceive after laps. A friend i went to high school with was told she would never have kids and now has 4:)
Good luck!

I had lap surgery in '04. I have PCOS and opted to undergo the ovarian drilling. While in there the doctor noticed I had some endometriosis and removed it. It wasn't too bad. I was a bit sore at first, but I think that's to be expected. But the point for me is that it worked and I'm working on growing a third baby.

Thanks for all the responses. I called my insurance company today- I will need to cover 40% of the surgery, up to $2,500. Above that amount, I will need to cover anything that is more than the "allowable" charges from the insurance.
Still thinking about it and wishing there was an easier answer. My dr. said that it's possible I'll need to have surgery done twice depending on what's found.
How did you know that the endo was coming back? Just curious how I will know if I had success. I won't be having kids anytime soon, so can't use that as a benchmark.
What is ovarian drilling?
