I am releaved that now we know there are things we can try to help him with. we are going to try it without meds at first so if anyone has any sugestins we are very open. we have already started giving him diet coke every morning and he has been getting more done at school. he a still high strung butt at least he is getting more work done.
I was on ritalin for 5 years when I was DS's age so I do know the benefits butt right nowm wem would like to stay away from meds.

The caffeine can calm a child to get more work done, but the artificial sweetners are worse than sugar.
My daughter is 13 1/2 and has had adhd since age 6. She has a cup of coffee daily but works even more is the balanced b-150 vitamins start with 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.
Also look at books on non-verbal learning disorder, executive functioning and auditory processing they all mimic adhd and psychiatrists have trouble telling the difference. Schools esp. have trouble telling the difference.
There is also a great diet for adhd kids called feingold he has books and online sites, my mum did feingold for my brother back in the early 70's.
I will be praying for you all the diagnosis is not easy.

thank you I will def look into the b-150 and switch him from diet to regular. we had him try coffie and he hated it.
i will also look into the diet. thank you. we really would like to stay medacine free if at all posable. we will probably call the behavioral clinc and get a true diagnosis now and see what they say as for as different things we can try.

Passing this along...I have a friend who used a neon colored poster board under the child's homework... it helped them focus...so did diffusing the room with Orange essential oil. ( the real thing no artificial stuff). Worth a try.
