Dear SG Family, We've had this discussion time and time again about what to post and what not to post on the message boards as far as privacy. Please be aware that there is nothing that is "100% safety proofed" once it has been posted publicy. Please use wisdom when talking about your work places, naming your boss, place of work, etc. The following came across my desk today, and I thought I should share this with you as just another reminder: "Be careful about what you put on the Internet. A vault.com survey reveals that 44 percent of hiring managers have screened job applicants by searching social sites such as Facebook and MySpace, and 39 percent have looked up a current employee. Although some social networking sites allow you to filter who reads your page, there’s no such thing as complete privacy on the Internet, so always consider the implications of your behavior before posting. Your reputation is at stake." As a good rule of thumb always think: Would I want my mate reading this? Would I want my boss reading this? Would I want my neighbor reading this? Would I want my family reading this? That's why you're asked to choose your "user names" so that you can maintain a higher level of privacy. I always want us to be aware.........I try hard to keep a careful watch about not permitting the posting of private information such as telephone numbers, addresses, etc., but I don't always catch things. Use sound judgement at all times when using the internet. Love, Clara

Clara, You are so right to share this warning. I found out, quite unexpectedly, that even the "user name" doesn't quite protect our privacy. Mine was an unusual situation, I hope.
My son "googled" my daughter's name, and my SG posts showed up. I was shocked...but I had her first name in my signature. She does have sort of an unusual name, but not THAT different.
I removed my signature, and all references to SG disappeared.
There wasn't anything I was really uncomfortable with people seeing, but even still, I appreciate the layers of privacy you have provided here.
Thanks for the reminder, Dru
