BreAnne was my 2nd daughter of 3 girls I also have 3 boys. All of them are grown now. I have been blessed too also have 10 grandchildren. BreAnne was the most loving girl, also she could be the most head strong, but we were so close! BreAnne was a wonderful hairdresser who specialized in color. She married at 17 and gave us mariah faith in 1998. In may of 2003 out of the blue at 21 years old she had a stroke. None of her doctors could figure out what caused her stroke. they called her the mystery girl of 2003. she recovered from most of the stroke symptoms. she had moments of memory loss and blurred vision but learned to live with it. in early 2004 she became pregnant once again. I was a little concerned only because of her health history. I left it up to god !She started having some severe symptoms beginning around 30 weeks into her pregnancy. severe fatigue, swollen ankles, trouble catching her breathe. Her OB chalked it all up to pregnancy! Starting around 33 weeks she had gone into premature labor and visited the local hospital 5 times only for them to stop labor and send her home. no one was even concerned that her oxygen levels were in the high 80's. Friday the 7th of January of 2005 she went again to the local hospital straight up to the OB unit. her lips and nail beds were blue. they sent her down to the ER. they didn't know how to handle how gravely ill that she was. They thought she might have a embolism in her lungs. I had them immediately transfer her the next day Saturday to Stanford in palo Alto. They diagnosed Breanne 4 hours after she arrived. She had primary pulminary hypertension and was in congestive heart failure. They were going to try and keep her pregnant an extra week ,she was stable! We decided since it was a 3 hour drive to come early Sunday since it was late Saturday night. 2 hours later Saturday we got the call that she was going down hill and had to perform emergency c-section. we rushed to the hospital. when we got there she was in recovery. She was in a drug induced coma since they had her on a ventilator to deliver much needed drugs to her lungs. She had given birth to a precious 4lb baby boy. She never got to see or hold her precious baby! They had given us in that quite room that the doctors pull you into less than 50 % chance BreAnne would make it. My whole world came crashing down on my shoulders that night! We waited with her by her bedside letting the baby lay on her chest and I know that when he would cry she heard him because all her stats on the monitors would go up. They say the hearing is the last to go.We tried to tell her the things we needed to say to her praying that she would here us. She survived 18 hours. She died Monday January 10th 2005. We found out later, the autopsy revealed that her only chance of surviving would have been a heart & lung transplant. The pph was caused by taking over the counter diet aids in 2003 to lose 20 lbs. pregnancy with pph is a killer.... the pph symptoms were slight until the pregnancy accelerated its progress. We took baby CALEB home 4 days later. BreAnne's 6 year old daughter mariah and her dad moved in with my husband & I and have been with us ever since. We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to raise these adorable precious children. They mean everything in the world to me. My whole life is now being mom/grandma to caleb & mariah.Which is not so easy when your 51 years old! not to mention the fact I'm very overprotective of them. It is so important for me to keep BreAnne alive for caleb. So that he knows what a wonderful mother she was and how very much she loved him. I have been taking mariah and caleb since the beginning every Friday to her grave so they know where she is. they can put flowers on there mom. It is very hard for me!! our whole family has been affected by her passing. nothing will ever be the same. I see so much of her in them I guess I really do have part of her with me always. thanks for listening.... god bless Jennifer
