My story starts at the beginning of the year, my husband and I were attempting to get pregnant via IVF. I took numerous shots to prepare my body, and I hate needles. During the procedure they implanted two embryo's and when it was time for the pregnancy test, happily I tested positive. The staff congratulated us and scheduled our follow ups. Two days later they reversed their decision and told me I was not pregnant it was only a chemical pregnancy. I was heart broken and I went to see my mom to recover. The whole time I was there I did not feel like myself. When I got home a week later I went for a second opinion and found out that I was indeed pregnant. All was ok for 10 weeks until Mother's Day '06, I began to bleed, a lot. I thought it was over, but a trip to the ER showed all was fine but they could not explain the bleeding. A week later, more bleeding, another trip to the ER and still baby was fine.
I bleed for most of the month finally being diagnosed with partial placenta previa. This was the cause of my bleeding. By the middle of June it had stopped for a month. I had a normal exciting pregnancy but at the end of July I awoke to bleeding this time even worse. My husband called 911 and we went to the hospital and baby was fine. I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days. I was released to bed rest at home.
On week later I was admitted again. At 21 weeks my water broke. I was sure glad I was at the hospital when that happened, again we figured it was over but our baby stayed in. I stayed bed ridden scared to death praying I could get to 24 weeks where they could give me a steroid shot to help the baby. I made it, However at 26 weeks I woke up the morning of Aug 30, 2006 not feeling right. I had a very very bad side ache. No one could understand what this could be. The pain got even worse and I was going into preterm labor. I went from being moved to my 9th room for observation to being rushed into an ER c-sec to save my baby's life. This all happened so fast that my poor husband had no idea where his family was.
Our Matthew was born Aug 30th weighing 1 lb 12 oz and 11 1/2 inches he was so beautiful. His first night in the NICU was very scary we were told that he would probably not make it. Well, he did and was starting to progress. However, on Sept 6, 2006 he passed away. He had developed an infection called NEC it effects the bowels. It hit everyone so unexpectedly no one saw it coming. He was just to small to fight off the infection. We were all so devastated. With all he and I had gone through I thought for sure he would have gotten to stay here on earth.
Thank you so much for letting me share my story.
