On another board I am on someone posted about sacral dimples. I had never heard of them, so read on to see what they are. As soon as I read the description, I realized it was a description of Allie's bum and the "extra hole" she seems to have down there. I have always thought it was odd, but never asked the ped about it. No big deal, except for it can be a symptom/sign of something called tethered cord. Another symtpom of TC is pain or weakness in one or both legs. Allie has been falling a lot because her right leg gives out on her. Her ST actually talked to her PT about it today because she was concerned. We are supposed to try supportive shoes for now, but I am wondering if this and her sacral dimple are connected and she has a tethered cord?? I hope this is all nothing! TC requires surgery. We go to the ped on the 31st so I will ask then. I'm tempted to go in sooner, but I don't want to be a hypochondriac mom!

I'm one to error on the side of being a hypochondriac. We go to a rather large ped. practice and most of the receptionists know be by name. I'd go in to eliminate it as a concern. I'll be praying for you and Allie.

It certainly doesn't hurt to ask about it before hand. Especially since it will probably be in the back of your mind until you get to ask! Maggie had that at birth and I had never heard of it either. It did disappear for her...I can't remember just when though. It is so scary when there are so many unknowns....

I have two dimples and all my kids have them too. Praying you find that it is just something that adds to her cuteness. I know it is so hard and the internet can be good and bad at times. I've driven myself crazy trying to diagnose my son.

I would check it out, otherwise it will always be on your mind. Hopefully, it can be ruled out. If not, you'll have more information that may help her.
