I know i dont excactly fit on this board either but I wanted to share that my brother has downs syndrome. He is now 28 years old and very healthy now dispite the occasional cold. He was born with an atrial septal defect which closed on its own. He has the mental capacity of a 5 year old and many speech problems but we understand him, i equate it to his own language which my dh took about 2 years to figure out. He attends a local workshop, which he loves he is 5'10 and 215lbs he is huge for downs. THough we are a family of giants! Anyway I would be happy to talk to any of you if you need help and if i dont know the answer my mom is certain too. Good luck with all your special needs kids, these children have huge hearts and so much love to share, and of course they have FANTASTIC moms, i know bc my mom is one! Me and Steven At my Wedding he loves to DRESS UP!!

I have met many children with downs, they never fail to steal my heart! Their innocence to everything just makes me melt.
Love the picture of him all dressed up at your wedding!

Steven is absolutely a handsome "prince", what a beautiful picture.
I am now helping out a family by watching they 3 children during their play practice and other times. Their 3 year old has downs and he just amazes me daily with how smart he is.
He has very very little speech, but understands everything and he melts my heart daily.
He is so kind and gentle and it breaks my heart that many think he is capable of nothing.

Thank you SO much for sharing your brother with us! Look how proud he is!!!
My boys and I volunteer with the Downs foundation here, and have now for 7 years. We work the Christmas party each December, and its been great to watch my boys work and play side by side with the children that have Downs. We also volunteer at the specail olympics and the boys sponsor a child there, with Downs,as well. They truly ARE specail angels!
And I think your mom must have done a wonderful job with not only your brother, but with you as well! Your post really shows how much you love him!
Blessings` Wendy
