This is John, he turned 3 in May. His current diagnosis are Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asthma, Neurofibromatosis and he is slightly hearing impared. This is Rebekah she will turn 6 in November She was just diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis last month. This month has seen neurologist vists for both, An EEG for John an MRI for Becky and John is scheduled for an MRI this week but we are not sure if they will do it for not as he has a cold and his asthma is flaring up with the cold. I also have a neuro typical child name Elizabeth who often feels that she gets no attention from us as we are so busy with the younger kids. Not to be left out this is Elizabeth who turned 11 today The dog is named Tinkerbell and she has no special needs other than her addiction to eating any shoes she gets her teeth on.

This tells it easier than I could www.kidshealth.org/parent/system/ill/nf.html . Dh was disagnosed with this as a teen so we knew the kids had a 50/50 change of inheriting this. His is fairly mild and he has only had 4 tumors removed in the past 25 years since his diagnosis. Right now all John and Becky have are the cafe au lait spots over their bodies that are quite faint but noticable to us as we have know to watch for them. The are at risk for tumors, hearing and eyesight problems and learning disabilities. Becky doesn't seem to have any delays but needs glasses. John has some hearing loss and of course learning delays but we are not sure how much is from the nf or the autism.

Hi, Myra...It is good to "meet" your children again. I didn't know much about neurofibromatosis either. I think of you often. How has this school year been going for you so far? Your children are really adorable. Yes, we have been on this journey together for quite some time, huh? We are oldies -- but goodies.

Hi Myra
Glad to meet your children, and you!
I do not know much about Neurofibromatosis either but did go to read the article you pasted. Thanks
You do have a lot to deal with. Your children are beautiful! Happy Birthday to Elizabeth. It can be so difficult for siblings to understand. Pre-teens especially are very sensitive.
