Ok, the couselor just called and get this...they didn't run the test to check for "syndrome" issues! WHAT the heck! I waited FOUR stinkin weeks for this phone call and they didn't even run the stinkin test! I am sooo angry right now! The only test they did run was to check his chromosomes...just to make sure the aligned properly and there weren't any extras...well the dr told us she expected everything to come out normal with those so she wasn't really concerned about that particular test...she was more eager to see the results of the syndrome test. NOW, I have to wait THREE months to back and see her again at which point they will run the syndrome test. YES, that is the soonest they could get us in...GRRRRRRRRRR!

That's horrible, can they just take blood at a lab somewhere? Or is it more than just that?

Jill, No, they won't do it that way..I need to wait to be seen by her(dr) then they will give me the order to take to the lab not to mention, the guy who did Matthew's initial blood draw was TERRIBLE! I can't imagine having having him go through that again!

I'm so sorry to hear that. We went through that with Jesse... I learned that they look at these things by hand and count them and that is why it takes so long...Why do you need another appointment though..that stinks.

Oh, I'm so sorry you have to wait even longer. Why couldn't they just do it all at once?

That is so frustrating. I am so sorry. OK, it just plain is not fair. Don't these doctors realize what this does to a parent?

Thanks everyone. I am feeling better today...I was seriously at peace(after the genetics appt) and had a feeling like we will finally know for sure one way or another...well it seems like as soon as you think you will have answers you just get kicked in the teeth and sent back to the drawing board. Anyway, we will just wait it out...give Matthew a break from appts and INSIST on that particular test when we go back in three months! Thanks again all~

this seems weird, they diagnosed my son's syndrome by his genetic screen/chromosome check only.
He has 4p-/wolf-hirschhorn syndrome which is a deletion of the terminal short arm of chromosome 4.
If his chromosome's are fine, than typically he will not have a syndrome unless they are checking for a non-genetic syndrome.
hugs and prayers continue.
