Hi Carrie! I think that you should bring it up to your pediatrician. But what is his adjusted age? like 3 months? If so then I would just give the guy a little more time. Brody is actually almost 5 months old but adjusted age is almost 3 months and he just recently started rolling over front to back and only once has rolled from back to front. He holds his head up on his belly but when he's in a sitting position he still tries to arch backwards so...... I also wanted to tell you how we got B to roll over cuz I was worried about it as well. I put him on the edge of my bed and took him by the feet and rolled him all the way around to the other side over and over and over. You know, around the edges of the bed. After few days of it, he just did it on his own. Now you can't keep him on his belly!!!!! ;D ;D The dr's are amazed that he can do it! ;D ;D Give Eli a 'High Five' from his buddy B!!!!! Love and peace, xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo me Forgot to add that we started him with a mini 'Boppy' that I got at Target for holding his head up on his belly. It fits under their armpits and is small so they can get used to that 'up' position of thier head! Small enough for our 'little' guys (B is still under 10 lbs...)here's the link: www.target.com/gp/browse.html/ref=in_se_pagelist/601-4885270-1636130?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=14025881&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=14025881&rank=pmrank&size=16&page=2Sorry, you'll have to cut and paste it. It's the 'Tummy Time Play Mat' but B's is blue not pink!If you scroll down it's the 'Boppy Prop Up Play Pad'.

Glad to meet you, Carrie. I'm a bit slow in getting around on the board but I did want to say "hi". Joshua wasn't born early but he wasn't holding his head up at 6 months either and we got involved with the Early Intervention program and he had a year of physical therapy and it made the biggest difference. I look forward to getting to know you and your little ones...

hi there! My son Lane wasnt born either, but also was very behind early on, with his motor skills. In fact, he didnt roll over until almost 10 months old. he was late sitting, late pushing up off his tummy, etc. He was dagnosed with hypotonia and received Physical Therapy fro several months. You would never know it, now. He is my most active child.
Just like Barb said, we used a boppy to get him to lift his chest off the ground and hold his head up. Another thing we did, when he was about 10 months old, is we did a "wheelbarrow" excercise. ...We would put him on his tummy and lift his feet off the ground...basically, if he didnt try to push up wtih his hands, his face would lay on the ground, which ws VERY uncomfortable to him...howver, it was uncomfortable enough that he would try so very hard to get it OFF the ground. It took awhile, but it improved his strength!
As far as rolling over, we put Lane on his back, with a toy next to him...we would gently guide him over, towards it, just far enough that he would have to work the rest of the way to get that toy. I honestly cant remember how we taught him to go from belly to back!
its amazing how much physical therapy can help!!!
Its good to meet you!
blessings~ Wendy
