I have pcos but not bad at all. i get the overweight affects but my hormone levels are just barely abnormal. I tried to get on glucafage and this other drug but they said my insulin was normal. its frustrating to try to get help and not be able to get it. i go see a fertility specialist in april and hopefully he will help us.

Did they do the 3 hour test on you? My levels always came back normal on both the just fasting test and the 1 hour. It was only the 3 hour that picked up slightly abnormal levels. My endo still put me on 2000 mg a day and it has made ALL the difference in the world. Praying that your specialist will be able to give you some good insight and help.

A fertility specialist will do more thorough testing. I always come out normal on diabetes testing, etc., but I do have PCOS with insulin resistance. Sometimes a person with more borderline problems won't have their PCOS show up until the more thorough testing is done. Also, even if hormones are "barely" abnomal, they can cause all kinds of issues.
Hugs. I hope the specialist gives you the help you need.

I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 1996 after a few years of knowing there was something going on! It took me until last year to finally get a Doctor to listen to me and actually do something about it! I have seen numerous Doctors who thought that the only "Drug" I should be on was the pill! I wasn't TTC but the pill did absoultly nothing with all the symptoms I was having. Last September my wonderful Doctor recommended a proceedure called Ovarian Drilling. Sounds awful but was truly minor. The pain from the surgery was nothing compare to the stabing pains I was having from my overies. No lie...my PCOS symptoms disappeared! And I actually had a visit from AF in the first month! (Who 's visits were yearly for years!) Anyhow, my surgery was so sucessful that I actually got PG by the second month! And I wasn't even trying! So...my one piece of advice for you is...insist that the doctors help you in any and every way possible! Do not suffer for years like I did! Hopefully the specialist will offer you some relief and hope for a happpy healthly future! Dihanne

The pill will fix you, that's all I heard for oh so very long...let's see, about 9 years. Til one dr. said pcos. And I researched Metformin and demanded to be put on it. And yup, got preggo. Now, here's the kicker...don't freaking ever stop taking it while pregnant. Stay on it.....
You tell that specialist to test your LH and FSH and do every little glucose test and get on Metformin missy!!!!!!!!!!! And stay on it, remember that, okay?
Don't worry, I have to tell the next specialist the same darn thing.
