I know some of us have had UTI's before...this is my first and I was just wondering how many of you have had them and if it was easy to get rid of...or if you continued to have a reoccurance with them. My dr has me on antibiotics right now, they seem to be helping some but it will be another 2 weeks until they recheck my urine and then evidently it will take another week to get the results back (I say that because it took them a week to get the results to me in the first place.)
Also, it seems as if everytime i have said anything about having any type of pain (to the nurses) they automatically say it is RLP...that is what they told me when I talked to them about it the last time I went in...I talked to the dr., he ordered a urine culture and it ended up being a UTI...I'm just wondering how many of you are being told you're having round ligament pain when it turnes out to be something else. I don't complain much about things so I could understand if I did and they would say that...but you would at least think they would check things out (especially since I have a history of PTL).

Hi Bridget, I've never had a UTI. . I've had a Kidney infection and a Bladder infection. With both infections, my doctors wanted to see me in 4 days. You might call and check with your OB again. I think 2 weeks is too long to go between checks with these infections, only because they can turn into much worse.

Hey Rose -- I think bladder infection counts as a UTI Bridget -- Hope you're feeling better and the infection's cleared up ASAP

Bridget - I had a UTI with Gabriel...didn't even know it until they did the routine urine check at one of my OB visits. I was put on antibiotics (Macrobid) and it went away (thankfully!). I never had any other issues or pain so I can't help there...but I hope your pain subsides soon! Gota keep this little one safe and sound! Always, Val

I don't know about UTI's and rlp, but I hate being told that everythig is rlp without being checked!!! I know that's probably what most of it is, but what if it's not?? GGRRR

Thanks ladies! I am just so tired of that being their excuse for everything!
Hopefully I will only have to be on this one round of antibiotics and that will take care of it...and I will call my dr.'s office to see if they really mean for me to wait that long to have it rechecked.

My sister was repeatedy told she was having RLP and it turned out that she had a HERNIA. She was diagnosed when her son was about three mos old b/c she saw a different Dr. for an unrelated problem. She also had pubic symphasis pain and was told it was RLP. I have an SI joint dysfunction (severe back pain related to PS) when pg with my DD and was told that was a UTI. Duh. Both my sister and I did our own research and basically diagnosed ourselves with SI joint and PS disfunctions. The only thing I learned from my doctor is that if it keeps bothering you or you find the explaination weird keep pushing your doctor for more answers and do your own reading. I go to PT now for my back and I am much better. BTW I have NO idea at all what RLP feels like but I know it is very uncomfortable!

I agree with the others, Bridget. 2 weeks is too long to wait. Don't let them do that to you, especially while pregnant. An infection can get out of control in that time. Also, please know they sell meds to help with bladder spasms over the counter. They can be a huge help with the pain. It's called Uristat and is found near the feminine/yeast infection products. Hugs.
