Hello everyone,
So glad to have found this board.
On August 27th, 2005 our daughter Emma was born silent at 40 weeks.
On that Thursday I had my normal Dr's appointment and everything was good. The next day, Friday I can't say for sure that I felt Emma move I always looked forward to her movements at night. No movements came I thought maybe she was resting up for labour. The next morning there were still no movements. I contacted the hospital who advised to drink something sweet. There were still no movements so I went to the hospital
The nurse tried for a good 1/2 hour and found nothing. She then called in the delivering Doctor who could not find anything either. I knew something was wrong as Emma's heartbeat was found instantly at my Dr's appointments. They had to call in an ultrasound tech (no techs work on weekends here). I had my ultrasound which was horrible as nobody could be with me except for the nurse, I sat there quiety as tears rolled down my face. I was brought back up to my room where the Dr had to tell me that there was no heartbeat. I'll never forget her face. I was devastated. How could this be happening. I was then given some choices to deliver. I could be induced right away but should something happen I would have to be brought to a bigger hospital which is about 75 minutes away as there was no OBGYN in the hospital until Monday. I was also given the option to wait until Monday to delivery. I chose to be induced right away.
Thankfully labour was not too long, one push and Emma was out. She was born shortly before 11pm, 8lbs, 7oz, 21 inches long. We didn't know what we were having so all I could say is it a girl or boy. My husband and mother were there with me. My family Doctor also came in to support us which I am so thankfull for.
I miss Emma terribly. Somedays are better than others. I have a daugther who will be 3 in January who keeps me occupied. I don't know what I would do without her.
