Hi all, i was also wondering if anyone knows of any kind of special things Canada does for Stillbirth recognition. I read all this amazing things from the US but not Canada. Any thoughts?

Hey,
I am from Ontario, and as of yet, I have found nothing that Canada does for s/b recognition. I know that there are a few support groups, but nothing exciting.
I know what you mean about the US doing all sorts of exciting things, walks, certificates, etc.
Where in Ontario are you from?

I'm from Toronto. I do know of a lot of support groups. The one I go to is through Perinatal Bereavement Services of Ontario. They do sponsor some special events; recently there was a fundraising run, the Stephen McClatchey memorial run held in Ajax. It was organized by a mother whose baby Stephen was stillborn about ten years ago.

Hello...I'm also from Ontario - but hours away from all of you in the northwest. I find that there are a lot of people suffering from the pain of child loss - but there is no support. I'm so thankful for SG. I am currently going to a counsellor...however, I'm not sure if I can figure out if it is helping (I cannot say, "Well, today I feel 10% better than yesterday or 15% less grief"?).
Wishing you peace today......

Hi.
I'm from Toronto. I'm new to this site. Our baby girl Sophia was born still on Oct. 1, 2005 at 32 and a half weeks. We are devastated right now. Anyway, I don't know of any thing that is done for stillborn recognition but there is an excellent organization called Bereaved Families of Ontario (http://www.bereavedfamilies.net/) which has affiliates throughout Ontario.

Hello I'm new here. Just found this wonderful forum! I live in Eastern Ontario, west of Ottawa and there is nothing here. Thank goodness for internet and wonderful sites like these! The only thing that i have found which isn't even close is www.members.shaw.ca/angelwhispers/. They send a care package and a birth certificate. I just received mine and wish that I lived in Alberta! They seem to have such wonderful support, have workshops, etc. Chantal
