On 10/16 we held the first Allison Hersey Memorial Lemon-aide stand. The proceeds were given to a local children's shelter. We held it at Ally's school and the turn out was great. We also collected teddy bears to give to frightened children at the shelter. I saw people that I haven't seen since Ally passed away. The total collection was: $777.77 and 77 bears. No, that's not a typo. There are seven sevens! Isn't that an interesting #? I have been looking up the significance of the number seven ever since. I think my Ally is trying to tell me something. I have also been student teaching full time at Ally's school. I was doing OK until her best friend came up and gave me a big hug. She looked in my eyes and said," I love you." I about lost it! It is good to see her friends growing up almost a year later, but I keep thinking how much Ally is missing and how much I am missing seeing her grow up too. It feels good to be able to get this out again. So glad SG is back!

Cindy,
What an accomplishment in Allies honor. It sounds like it went very, very well. Now there are children that will feel feel her love everywhere.
Student teaching at Allie's school must bring such mixed feelings for you. I can imagine the hug from her little friend would definitely bring on the emotions. What a sweetie for reaching out to you. No doubt she knows you are hurting. Good luck with your continued work toward being a teacher.
How is your other daughter doing? It was nice to hear from you. Take care of yourself and hope you will join us frequently.
Peace, Pam

Pamela, Thanks for asking about my other daughter. She is on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds . She wanted to go to Homecoming and made arrangements with girlfriends to meet for dinner and then go to the dance. She had a panic attack 45 minutes into the dance, however and had to be picked up. She was so mad at herself and dissappointed that she couldn't do it. She does seem to be handling the day to day better. I imagine that time will help her improve.

Cindee, glad to see you back.
The 7's are amazing. There has to be a meaning behind it. That is great the money you made! Congratulations.
I do hope Jessica feels better. It must be such a struggle for her.
Take care
Corinne

Brava, Cindee. I know it is a small consolation, but I urge you to keep in the back of your mind just how many children's lives are regularly being touched by Ally.
As to the 7s, that is so bizarre. I wish I could figure out what to read into it.

Cindee,
I love your strength. And thats a lot of lemonaid! How wonderful so many showed their support!
I'm sorry about Jessica missing homecoming and hope she continues to improve day-by-day. Before she knows it, she'll be ready for another dance.
