I've thought about this a lot too.....I'm a "nay" vote.
I think a separate board for depression, even with specific guidelines & a moderator......would be problematic{?} in time.
Perhaps a "stickied thread" for depression, on the boards that want it.....would work?? With that, we're basically staying on our "home board" where we're comfortable & can still offer support to others when needed........Does that make sense???

It is me again....One last post, on why I disagree with a depression board..... First of all there are multiple types of depression, and depression is a normal part of grieving....There is nothing wrong with taking an anti depressant, to get one through a difficult period in ones life... There are also disorders such as what I have called "Clinical Major Depression" this is a chronic depression and it does not go away. There are things one can do to make things somewhat better, but I will always be on medication.... Anxiety disorders, often time mock depression, but they are truly anxiety disorders....I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder...again chronic, and I will be on meds for the rest of my life... How is one to know that is simply reading a post to know what they are dealing with ?? Someone may say that they are very sad, and just can't deal with things.....The best thing for that is spoiling yourself a little if your suffering from a depression episode....Go take a hot bath, relax, read a good book, drink lots of water and get exercise.....PERFECT and excellent advice... How do you know that the person your talking to isn't sitting at there computer with a bowl full of pills, popping them like m&m's....(this was the case with me two and half weeks ago).... but when asked by a friend how I was doing I responded "I'm a little sad, but I am okay" SG is not a medical board, and topics such as depression, anxiety, OCD, Panic, and PTSD should be left in the realm of medically trained professionals....Not to webbased friends that think they are providing support.....The best thing one can tell someone who feels they are dealing with depression is, "Have you visited with your doctor about this"
