Martina has been very, very sick, and after repeated trips to see her vet, Jeremy and I have decided that tomorrow is her day to go to Heaven.
Her doctor actually recommended this, as the surgery that is needed for her probably will not turn out good due to her diabetes.
I'm glad I had the time I did with my Bug...she has been a great cat and had a long, happy life. Seeing her tonight, holed up in Jeremy's bathroom, let me know that we made the best decision.
If you could think of us tomorrow at 10:00 MST, it would be appreciated. We are going to go in with her, and depending on the costs are going to have her privately cremated since she really doesn't like other cats.

Oh Mandee,
I am so sorry! I know how much you love Martina! I will be praying for you and Jeremy tomorrow! I hope though you will find some peace in knowing Martina will be free from all her pain!
Love, Nicole

Mandee...
<typing with tears in my eyes> I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Martina... I know first hand what you are going through. My baby Chesapeake lost her struggle with kidney failure over 5 years ago at age 17-1/2. I still miss her. (I did spend the extra to have her cremated alone so I could keep her with me.)
(((HUGS))) to you... you will be in my thoughts and prayers this morning... and in the coming days as well...
In Him, Laura

I'm so sorry, Mandee. We had a dog that lived until he was 19 years old and we had to make the decision to put him to sleep. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I still miss him lots. I'm thinking of you... Heidi

Thanks for thinking of me, girls. I think I'm doing ok right now. Everything went really well, Jeremy held Bug and I stroked her head. The whole thing only took a couple seconds. Then, Dr. Michael let us stay with her and say good bye. He told us to stay as long as we wanted...we couldn't stay very long though, only about 5 minutes. Jeremy left first, and I stayed a minute or two more.
We opted for private cremation, it wasn't nearly as much as I thought it was going to be. We also bought a wooden box urn that you can put her picture on. I don't know where that is going to go yet...but it will be nice to have her with us.
Then we went and bought a kit to make a memorial stepping stone. When we got home, Jeremy pulled out her collar and I heard the tag and bell and thought it was her...then I remembered. That was the worst part of the afternoon, I think.
Thank you for being there for us...
Love,
Mandee

Mandee,
I have two precious kitties who I can't imagine life without, so I really feel for what you're going through. I pray that God will give you comfort.

(((((((((((((MANDEE)))))))))))
I am so very sorry that you had to make this very painful decision. We are a cat family and they are family! Over the last 38 years we have been blessed with many wonderful cats and have gone through the pain of losing them numerous times. It does not get any easier. I am so glad that you were able to spend her last moments with her, a comfort for both of you.
You are in my prayers.
Love ya,
