I'm trying to find other moms who have delivered babies with a prolapsed cord. I gave birth to my 3rd daughter, Gracelyn, by emergency C-Sec (July 05') after the discovery of the cord prolapse. She was born into a coma and died 5 days later. It's been very difficult finding other mothers with similar stories.

Hello My eldest son was an emergency c section because of a prolapsed cord. He scored fine at the time on his agpar and all seemed ok till he was almost 3 when he was diagnosed with a rare epileptic syndrome. It was a sudden onset with no prior warning signs and yet i have often wondered if the two are linked even though i can't find real evidence to confirm it. This has caused him to have some cognitive loss as well which makes life difficult for him. Its always difficult to have a child with a disability, what makes this hard on us was that he did not have this problem visible from birth so it was quite a shock for us later. I am so sorry for your loss. I write here because my 6yr old daughter died suddenly on the 13th May 05 and I know how I feel about her just being gone in a flash. Your 5 days must have been very hard to endure. Youre not alone in here take care Velda

You may want to post on the Stillbirth board. I know that it is not exactly the same, but many people over there had babies who died due to a cord accident and there have been a few mommies who post there whose little ones lived for a few moments or days.
I am so sorry for your loss -- Jen
