Hi Ladies- I am really struggling with some things and would love some advice/input. Some things I have read say that clomid can actually cause infertility if used my someone who is fertile. I have always been able to get pregnant, but I am taking clomid because the RE thinks maybe it can give me healthier eggs, but I haven't found much to support this theroy. I do know that nothing can prevent chromosone issues. So why take it? It has caused my cervical mucus to stop and now I am not getting preg. What would you do? ? Please? ? Much love and thank you in advance for you advice/input Rach

I find it unusual that your doctor would prescribe you clmoid if you are not haveing infertility problems. Clomid is said to be the most over used and abused and misunderstood drug out there. Doctors resort to prescribing it when they just want to try something. I would suggest stop takeing it right away and go ask another docotr. I have always been told and read that clomid is more harmful then helpful if you already ovulate on your own. I your cycle is the problem then there are other drugs that can help with that, which may have less side effects. I would definatly go see a second opinion, something doesnt sound right. Plus why spend all that money if you dont have to, its fairly certain that it doesnt do anything to improve egg quality. Good luck Liz

I would try to get a second opinion.
P.S. There are a lot of herbs out there said to help with O and your cycles. I just ordered maca root powder off of the net. It's said to have some wonderful affects. So I figured, what the heck? So if there is no BFP this cycle, I'll be using that next cycle.
Also, you can try preseed (I've heard from others on here that it's great) for your cervical fuild issues. Or maybe Robutussin- I've heard that works well too. And you can always take green tea suppliments or drink green tea daily. All are said to help with CF.
Good luck

Rachel,
I have reread your post a few times! I would do as much research about Clomid on the internet as I possibly could - as you know the internet can be a powerful tool.
My thoughts are I would get another Doctors opinion as soon as possible! I too have NEVER heard of Clomid being used if you do not have a problem getting pregnant (I have used it a few times). As far as I know Clomid is used for women having ovulation problems??
Also, one of the other ladies said "Clomid is said to be the most over used and abused and misunderstood drug" this is very true and I'm sure once you start reading about it you will find this out!
Take Care Janis

I am like you, I have no problem getting pg it's the keeping it that is the hard part. My doctor has not put me on Clomid because making the eggs isn't the prob. I will be starting to take other medications that will create the perfect environment in my uterus instead. I forget the names of these meds at the moment but if you are interested I can fill you in. I know they are quite common so they aren't some freaky way-out-there meds.
How long did your Dr. want to keep you on Clomid?

I don't have much info about Clomid, and I don't know if my situaiton is similar or not. My doc put me on Femara a few cycles ago. I have heard some women use this to stimulate O as well. I always O and usually don't have a hard time getting preg, but he said it would help keep my prog high enough. This is the longest it has EVER taken us to get preg, and I'm beginning to wonder if the Femara has something to do with it. I would get a second opinion, or at the very least go to your doc with your concerns. I hope you get some answers. Good luck!
