Just in case any of you were thinking about watching this movie, I just want to warn you that there's a part that is just so sad. I just sat and cried. These penquins of Antartica go through a lot to bring new life into this world and the weather conditions are so harsh that lots of the chicks don't make it. When a chick dies, the mother goes through a grieving process. I thought that maybe she'd wander off on her own. But, the poor creature acts out very emotionally. She actually tries to steal chicks from other mothers. It was pitiful. I thought that animals weren't emotional about loss of their offspring...It's not that way at all! I cried for the poor mother penquin. The other penquin moms don't seem to be very supportive to the grieving moms. This is sick...I was thinking that it would be nice if they formed a support group instead of leaving the moms that lost chicks out in the cold. I know. My mind is warped. It's just so so so SAD!

I watched the movie last week with DH & I cried through half of it. They kept saying how the younger "couples" would go too fast transfering the egg from momma to daddy & they would lose the egg ~ I told my DH that it was nice that the two of them got to go back to the water together . . . . the momma (trying to) stealing the baby was sad though. It's actually a pretty incredable movie when you realize everything they have to go through to have just one baby a year . . . I don't think I could walk 70 miles in antartica, not eat for 3 months, have an egg baby, hand it over & walk back 70 miles just to eat again. & I KNOW DH couldn't stand still for 2 months waiting for me to get back!
