I hope this serves to comfort and validate and not to upset anyone but it touched me....
Nobody Knew You
Nobody knew you " Sorry about the miscarriage dear, but you couldn't have been very far along." ...existed.
Nobody knew you " It's not as though you lost an actual person." ...were real
Nobody knew you " Well it probably wasn't a viable fetus. It's all for the best." ...were perfect.
Nobody knew you " You can always have another!" ...were unique.
Nobody knew you " You already have a beautiful child. Be happy!" ...were loved for yourself.
Nobody knew you ...but us.
And we will always remember ...You.

That is a very touching poem. Thank you for posting it. It is very true and very much so validates the way most people feel when someone says a thing like that knowing you have lost a child. Some people just don't know how to comfort people and come across to be very insensitive.

Thank you so much for sharing this poem. I miscarried six babies, and the hardest part of my grief was often the fact that nobody seemed to "get it". Because they didn't "see" a baby, to them my babies were not real.
The words in this poem are beautiful, and they have helped me--even though it has been several years since my last miscarriage.
Thanks so much for sharing this!
Love, Clara

Wow- what a great poem. I wish I had this to send to all of my friends and family right after my MC. I think the biggest lesson that I have learned from our loss is that I can be more sensitive to someone in my life who ever suffers a loss. I think I would have been one of those people who thought people should just "get over it". I am so much more empathetic now and understand how tough and traumatic any type of loss can be.

I'm thinking of cross stitching that poem and framing it. I love it so much!
