Miss Aubree Kathleen made her sppearance at 3:23pm on Feb. 13th (on my 30th bday!) weighing 6lbs, 14.5oz and 19in long We are soooooo in love!
I was admitted on the 12th to start cervidil and started having contractions about 30 mins after it was placed. I was 2cm, 60% effaced, but she was still pretty high up at -4 when I arrived and still only 2cm the next morning but 90% effaced and -3. Dr. started pitocin (which is a beast!) and I labored drug/epi free for 8 hrs. Dr then checked me and I was still only at 2cm but she had home back up snd I was back to -4. I was sooo heartbroken cause contractions were reg 2 mins apart and I was bound and determined I was going to have my natural birth. Dr told me at that point he was concerned my pelvis was too narrow and that she wasn't going to fit or that she was just bigger than they anticipated but he was sure we would be doing a csection by dinnertime. I was crushed. I asked him how sure he was she was just not coming out vahinally and he said he was 95% sure. My SO and I discussed it snd devided to just go ahead with the csection and little did we knowvthat was the best decision we could have ever made...
They prepped me and took me back. The spinal was by far the worst part of it all. (Well other than the antibiotic they started me on just prior and literally with 2 mins of stsrting it I started throwing up) Everything went great and the dr, nurses were laughing and we all talked/joked up until he got into my uterus and could see her and the chaos began...The cord was around her neck and she was wedged in there good. The vacuum they were trying to use wasnt working so a nurse was sent running to get another and I literally had another nurse kneeling on the operating table on top of me pressing down so hard I felt like my ribs were going to break. I cried between being scared and thr amount of pressure I felt but SO was soooo calm through it all (scared but very calm thank goodness!) within a min or so they told me her head was out and a few secs later we heard her cry! Best sound in the world! Her daddy got to cut the cord and stay with her while she was being checked over then he got to bring her over to me and I lost it lol. She was beautiful and looked justblike me when I was a baby except she has a head full of hair! Daddy went with her to the nursery and at that point they gave me sleepy meds so I could relax. The bad part was I react strongly to them and instead of a 2 hr recovery it took 4 before I was awake and got to hold her. It was all worth everything in the end. She is a very happy content baby and rarely cries. She hsd some tummy issues yesterday and they are pretty sure she is lactose intolerate so we switched her formula and at her last feeding last night she was doing much better. The nursery kept her for the two nighttime feedings to see how she was doing and so I could sleep without getting up cause SO didn't stay with me last night.
We should be going home this evening or at least by tomorrow will post pics...
