I don't know much about cervix length. I think it does have to do with dilation and effacement, but not 100% positive. But that can change so quickly. One can go from closed tight to delivered in a matter of hours if the body and baby decide it's time. Some babies will settle into position and not move, others will float around and flip as long as they can and even up to delivery.
I'm sorry your doctor and the tech didn't tell you anything.

Cervical length has become a surrogate marker for risk of preterm delivery. If you cervical length measures shorter than expected for you gestational age it may mean that you are at in increased risk for preterm delivery. I imagine if there is something to worry about your doctor will tell you as far as that goes. How far along are you? Babies can move clear up until the last minute...
