Hi, everybody. I’m 30 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 22 and have been TTC for nearly 5 years without any positive results. After my last IVF the doctor advised us to try to conceive with the help of a donor egg as my eggs are of very bad quality. I know so many ladies with PCOS who have managed to conceive. Unfortunately, it isn’t me!!!! I was crying days and nights, and finally my hubby and I decided to try our hands with ED IVF. Cycling in the UK is too expensive for us now. My husband and I got interested one Ukrainian clinic. It’s situated in Kiev. We decided to contact this clinic because we found loads of positive feedbacks about it on various fertility forums. We even spoke with one woman who had her egg donation program in Kiev last year and give a birth to lovely son. The boy resembled her greatly though he was conceived with the help of a donor egg. We contacted them via the phone, and we liked how they talked with us. However, when we came to Kiev we were a little bit frustrated. Firstly, we didn’t expect to find out that the clinic was so tiny. It was situated in a small private house. We visited it twice and every time it was overcrowded with people of various nationalities. We met loads of Chinese patients there. The atmosphere was too noisy there. The staff was constantly going forwards and backwards. It seemed that the telephone was ringing for ages and nobody wanted to answer to it… The clinic administrator showed us by her facial expression that she was bored to death by our question why we had to wait in the queue to meet the clinic’s representatives. We used to visit another Ukrainian clinic the other days, and everything was different there. Firstly, the clinic halls were empty. The administrator was friendly, and the doctor soothing. We liked the way we were treated there, but we didn’t like that the clinic’s halls were empty. To be frank, it looked like we were in a horror film, because not a single soul was there. We didn’t sign contracts with any clinic and went back home. Now we have to decide whether to come back to Ukraine and choose one of these clinics, or go and try to get the egg donation in other clinic or maybe another country. I just want to get to know your opinion about both of these clinics. If the clinic is overcrowded with the patients, but the staff is cold and unfriendly, what does this mean??? I need your advice because I really don’t know what to do further…

Hi, Candywoman. I think you shouldn’t give up. There are quite a lot of people around the world, who were diagnosed with PCOS and who managed to conceive and give birth to children. I have a cousin who was diagnosed with the same health issue. She managed to conceive only after she had reduced her weight. Are you overweight, hun? P.S. As for the clinics, I think you should choose the one you really feel ok with. You should totally trust the RE you’re going to deal with. If I were in your shoes, I would choose the clinic, that suits me the most.

Hi, blueflover. Thanks for your reply. I really needed some support these days. I want to become mum so much. I know that there are quite a lot of ladies who managed to conceive with PCOS. My close friend also has PCOS. She managed to conceive after she has reduced her weight. I do have some loose weight, but I’m not overweight. The problem is I have very hairy legs and arms. For me, it’s a real pain as I have to shave my legs every two days. As for the clinics, I quite liked the first clinic. We found loads of positive feedbacks about them on various fertility forums. They offer egg donation for very reasonable prices. The only problem is the clinic is too overcrowded. You have to wait too much time before the specialist is ready to meet you… Waiting in the lines makes you so anxious.

I think you should pay more attention to their success rates. For me, it’s the key moment in choosing the clinic. Before signing up a contract, you must be totally sure that the clinic you’ve chosen is an effective one. I would also recommend you to check how they select egg donors for their DE IVF programs. I would also deal with the clinic that checks the heredity of the egg donor. I think these are the things to be taken into consideration while choosing the clinic. At any rate, good luck in your TTC journey.

The clinic we’ve got interested in does check the heredity of the women who are willing to become egg donors. They study the family tree of the potential egg donor to see whether her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are free from various hereditary diseases. They also ask them to do quite a lot health tests to check their health condition. A woman should be a mom of at least one healthy child to be accepted as an egg donor. All these things are included into the contract that they offer us to sign up. What do you think about it?

Hi, there! I think it’s great that they would check the donor’s health condition and heredity. I consider it to be a professional approach. However, how are they going to find an egg donor for you? I think it’s quite difficult to do this as all people are unique. Even twins are different in some way… At any rate, good luck in your ED journey.

I quite understand what you mean, dear. Before visiting the clinic for the first time, we sent them a short description of the woman who would suit us as an egg donor. We specified the woman’s height, weight, hair and eye color. Our program coordinator told us that the clinic has a large database of egg donors. They will use a special software to find an appropriate donor for us. If we sign up a contract with them, they’ll show us 3D photos of the egg donors. This the way they’re going to select an egg donor for us. What do you think about it?

I think it’s great that they will let you see a 3D photo of the egg donor. Not all fertility clinics provide their clients with such an option. If you see a 3D photo of the egg donor, you’ll be able to make a better choice. Dear, will they charge any additional fee for this option? As far as I know, some clinics do this to make more money? What about the clinic you’ve got interested in? Do they offer you any optional services?

The clinic we visited doesn’t charge any additional fees. They charge only a fixed sum. It means no additional or optional services are offered. As we’re opting for several attempts, this sum will be divided into several installments. We may make the payment either in cash or via a bank transfer. This the way the clinic charges fees for its services. What do you think about it?

I quite like the way they charge fees. It’s really very handy that they divide the payment into several installments. What clinic are you going to deal with? Will you share its name? The thing is we’re also looking for a fertility clinic to deal with… We contacted several fertility clinics in Russia, but we liked none of them… There are so many offers that it’s quite difficult to make the decision…

We’re going to deal with Biotexcom. It’s a Ukrainian fertility clinic. It’s situated in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. We’ve got interested in them because they have rather high success rates. In addition, they don’t charge much for their services. The clinic offers free consultation: you just phone them and they say when their docs are ready to meet you. These are the main reasons why we decided to deal with Biotexcom.
