I have a friend from high school that recently had a loss. We havent kept in touch. I just seen her facebook page. Although I havent spoken in years, seeing her page has really brought me down. Its like im taking her loss personal and my heart hurts so much reading those feelings she has wrote on her page. I feel odd having those feelings. I guess im just wondering does anyone else do this. When you hear of someone you know have a loss and take it so personal.- I feel strange to have taken it so much to heart since we havnet spoken in years.

I don't think you're the only one who does that! I find that I "connect" with others who've had a loss, even if I don't really know them. It's like our hearts are connected in a way other people just don't understand. I think it just shows how big your heart is, & what a wonderful lady you are!!

I think in some ways we relive our own losses when we identify with someone else's loss. Life sometimes allows our experiences to hide but when we get confronted with someone else's experiences, they come flooding back

You're not alone, Tori. I feel like this whenever I see/hear about a loss. It is personal to me because I can totally identify with it, even moreso when the woman was once a close friend. I love your empathy.
