I have a huge threshold for pain, Endo, pcos, delivering a 10 pound baby, tons of kidney infections, kidney stones. Anyway today my back hurts so bad it is hard to walk. I am just wondering could this pain be another fibroid? Tomorrow is such a busy day i do not have time to go to the dr. You really would think I am eldery with the way I am walking. It hurts so bad, I guess my question is if it was another fibroid could i just deal with it? Or is this something that has to be taken care of. Signed Old lady with a broken back...lol We had went to the store and I had Jerry push me in the wheelchair ( the wheelchair the store offers) that is how bad the pain was.

Depends on where the pain is.. I have HORRIBLE right kidney pain right now and have for several months off and on. The last month it has been every day. Last night I seriously was considering a trip to the ER to get a cat scan of it. Then I was afraid that if I went to the ER and they did a cat scan and if it is swollen (like it was when I was in Florida), they would be admitting my behind. My drs would not make it optional or let me go (they know how I am). So I sucked it up and putting a heating pad on it.
Without knowing where the pain is for you, it would be hard to tell. very low back pain I can see being caused by a fibroid. When I was getting periods or when I break through on the continuous BCP, I have HORRIBLE very low back pain. Towards the middle and it is likely a pulled muscle. Under the rib cage and around to the side is most likely kidney.

Hope you feel better soon!!!

Tori,
With the possibility of scleroderma, this is something you need to have checked. If it is middle back, I agree that it is more likely to be muscular, but kidney problems can be complicated in scleroderma patients.
I would see if you can't get in to see a doctor tomorrow (not the ER...they can only treat symptoms. You need a doc who can follow this through) to be sure that it is muscular. Be sure that they know about the test results, and that they also do a urinalysis for you. I hope it is just a pulled muscle!

I was thinking muscle too..kidney pain is more off to the side, but mine always feels like someone kicked me or something. I'd get it checked just to be sure..i don't know much about scleroderma, but with kidney infections, mine only get worse and i end up in the hospital, so always better to be sure than to let it go. And if it's muscular, maybe they can give you something to get thru it. Last time my dr gave me a muscle relaxor that i just took a couple nights (they make me sleep so i don't drive and take them) and that made it so i could sleep and relax a little and got over it pretty quickly...good luck!
