Day two of operation "make me feel like im gonna die". aka day two of lyrica withdrawal. i slept terrible all night, and i am so sore i feel like i fell ten feet onto my back. and my stupid cat thought iwas hilarious to lick my face and pat my arms with his paws all night. he's getting locked in the bathroom tonight! And I can't take anything stronger than tylenol, so this withdrawal is HARD. My doc wants me to just monitor my blood pressure from home, no need to be on a medication that a)didnt work, and b) since it is barely elevated at all, no point in taking ANY medication if not needed. This coming monday is my EDD... maybe I choose a stupid time to stop lyrica. But, I cant be on it while TTC. so, here I be.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. It has to be awful. Can i ask why were you taking Lyrica???Were you trying to get off of something like Lortab or Oxycontin??? I've taken Lortab off and on for 10 years ,more like 90 pills a year .My pregnancy made all my pain problems 100 times worst, so now I'm taking 3 percocets a day. I know that Lyrica is used to help with withdrawal symptoms of these meds, but it also can become addictive ,with it's own withdrawals when you start tapering it off. I was also prescribed low dose of Lortab by my pain management Dr. He said it's FDA proven not to cause harm to fetus. There were many studies done, and babies came out normal. It's mostly based on Tylenol ,which makes it safe. If you are living in chronic pain, you might want to talk about this with your Dr. I'm not sure how your feelings are on this one,and what kind of pain you're dealing with. I know it can get bad during the pregnancy, and even worst after, like in my case . I've never took anything while i was pregnant, even tho i had a whole Rx. I also develop resistance very fast, so meds are easy for me to get off of. It's a good thing when it comes to withrawals, but bad thing when it comes to pain treatment. I hope things get better, and you find some relief. I live in bad pain 24/7, so feel free to pm if you'd like to talk to someone. love,Sam

I took a LOT of Lortab and IV pain meds while pregnant with Cate. I had a kidney stone stuck in the right ureter. Everytime it moved was excruciating pain. Then because it was stuck, I got constant kidney infections. I spent a LOT of time in the ER on IVs. Cate is fine.

(((Ellie))) Can you talk to your doctor about an alternative to Lyrica? I'm so sorry you're going through withdrawal and pain at an emotionally hard time.

The lyrica is for fibromyalgia... and the withdrawal.... grrrrrrrrr.... total TMI, but I have diarrhea from it, and I swear my uterus (not my intestines) is cramping up. I should ask about lortab. It may help. Thank you so much for the suggestion Sam!!
Unfortunately, there are so few meds for fibromyalgia, and they are so new, all they have is rat studies. Rat studies show some risk of organ malformation, so my doc said id have to wait til 3rd trimester and evaluate from there, and cymbalta MIGHT be safe, but I never had much benefit from it. (although... some benefit may be better than nothing).
AND.. when i got to work.. found out im not getting thursday and friday off. so my 3 day vacation to minnesota turned into one. I'm so furious and sad! I was crying at my desk a lot of the day. My supervisor even asked what was wrong... i told her EXACTLY what was wrong. EVERYTHING.
sorry ladies for being overdramatic... im tired, sore, sad, and angry.

Honey you are NOT overdramatic. I have been seeing a rheumatologist. He says I have FM. My pcp and I are like that diagnosis does not make any sense and I am trying to get in with a different one. When he told me that, I asked him about specific symptoms and why he thought that and I got a runaround answer. My pcp and I think it is Rheumatoid Arthritis. After the last two weeks, it appears I have developed Raynaud's syndrome. Another symptom of RA. I have had severe numbing and tingling in my hands and it is DRIVING ME NUTS. The rheumatologist suggested cymbalta and lyrica. I tried lyrica. It only made me gain 10 lbs in a month! It did nothing for the joint pain. My pain is very specific and in the joint (besides this new symptom of numbness and tingling that is extremely painful). I can't take the cymbalta. It interferes with BCP and I NEED to be on the BCP because I have severe endometriosis. So for now I am making do with lortab and very very strong anti-inflammatories. My pcp thinks the rheumie is a quack. She said she is going to continue testing my blood until the RA declares itself. My inflammation factors are extremely high to include the ESR.
I totally understand. Try the lortab. While no drugs is preferable, my ob told me that I could take the lortab. In fact, he begged me to take it because of the stone and kidney infections and those are VERY painful.

In fact, he begged me to take it because of the stone and kidney infections and those are VERY painful. the numbing and tingling drives me CRAZY!! I told KS it feels like when your limb falls completely asleep, then that really uncomfortable feeling that it feels like when it wakes up, and you are wanting to both move it yet it d**n near HURTS to move it, and all the while its all you can think about and you are begging it to stop. Thats the only way I can describe it... only instead of it only last 30 seconds, sometimes it lasts for days. My RF factor was negative, ANA was negative, so I had a previous rheumatologist just say FM (which is what they always say if they dont know), but they still havent explained my ESR. Its 40, which, while not severely high, is definitely not in the range of normal. Very odd.

I know what Lyrica withdrawl feels like first hand. It's absolutely pure He!! I was on it for over 2 yrs and it helped but I started having w/d in between my prescribed dose times. Acupuncture 3x per week helped. It took a month or more of the w/d symptoms to go away. Also you may want to consider being off Lyrica for 3 months before ttc. Best to you.

Ellie my ESR was very very high as well. ANA and RF are negative. After speaking with several people who have RA and doing my own research, you do not have to have a positive RF or a positive ANA to have lupus. I am trying to change Rheumies but every one of them are not seeing new patients. So I am kind of stuck with this guy for now. I also think for me that he couldn't figure it out and he just put me in a box.
After doing some research online this week. Running my hands under hot water helps a lot. So I am putting my hands in hot water like 10 times a day. This just started when I went to Disney last week. I was pushing the stroller all around (25 lbs of baby and probably 25-30 lbs of stuff with a cooler and stuff) and it made my elbows and stuff swell up (not typical of FM but typical of RA). I think the swelling just has to work its way down. I have switched back to a different anti-inflammatory yesterday and it is helping.
I wish you the best of luck. Don't stress about the lortab. Like I said, I was on a TON of it when pregnant with Cate because of kidney stones and infection. They also gave me by IV nubain, and a few other drugs I can't remember that were pain meds. Usually it was nubain and they would call my ob and ask him if it was ok. I was always like no, just give me fluids and the antibiotics to flush the stone out. They were like um you are doubled over in tears, take it.

I am down to one 75 mg of Lyrica every 5 days...but in between I have moments of high anxiety, sweats, cold, nightmares, irritable, depression, and feeling worthless....I am trying to get off it...because I gained 15 pds in two weeks after they uped my dose from 150 to 300 a day...I am taking it for fibro....then they put me on a antidepressant thinking I am depressed not thinking it was only a side effect from the Lyrica...How long will I feel like this? Will it last forever?

Hey sweetheart. I am so sorry. I don't think this will last forever. What antidepressant did they put you on? It may help with withdrawal symptoms as well as chronic pain. I wish I could just fix this for you.

(younmm23 is my old account)... the withdrawal did finally end. It took about another 2 weeks after taking the last pill, but it did finally end. The antidepressant could definitely help with the withdrawal, so if it were me I'd give it a try. Good luck and ((((HUGS)))!
