It turned out great!!! I've never made banana bread before, so I was excited
Here's the banana bread recipe: 2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup cream or milk (I used milk) 1 egg 3/4 cup crisco oil ( I didn't have crisco oil, so i used vegetable oil, it works just as good) 2 to 3 overripe bananas (mashed) I spinkled some cinnimon too and the chocolate chips I just sprinkled as well. Hope you like it. Mix wet and dry ingredients together. Bake @ 350 for 50 - 60 min. in a greased glass baking dish, I just used a greased loaf pan.

Crescent Apricot Cookies Combine 1 C butter, 2 C flour, 1 beaten egg yolk & 1/2 C sour cream. Mix and chill for at least 1 hour. Roll it into a circle. Spread Apricot preserves, coconut and pecans (as much or as little as you'd like). Cut into wedges & roll tightly - like a croissant roll. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20 min then roll in powdered sugar.

Yum, I love banana bread and chocolate! What a great mix! I love going to allrecipes.com when I am in a jam to make dinner. I just put in what meat or veggie I have and it pops up so many ideas.

Hi all, just reading here and thought I would add my two cents worth. I don't cook much in the way of fancy stuff, being on my own, and my three cats don't appreciate gourmet human food! Here in Australia we have a TV show called Master Chef, it's kind of a reality show, but not, if you know what I mean. Anyway it is on for six nights a week and is quite addictive watching. It is basically a number of wannabe chefs who give up several months of family, friends and job to participate in competitive cooking. Without going into enormous detail here, you may be able to find it on the internet, I don;t know the exact web address but I am sure that "Masterchef Australia" will find it if you are interested. You may even know of it already, it has been on in the UK as well, their own version that is. I personally love the programme, it is in it's second season and their forums are quite an eye opener for me, I'm sure that many of you ladies would enjoy this show, maybe your TV producers could get on to something similar. It certainly takes ones mind off mundane problems, kind of a fantasy trip I suppose. Would like to hear if anyone can find it on their computer and what they think about it. Cheers, Janet

Banana Bread - instead of using oil, use apple sauce. Equal amounts. Switch out the white flour for whole wheat, and if you want, use splenda instead of sugar (although I DO still prefer regular sugar). Add a couple tablespoons of ground flax, some dark chocolate chips (better for you than milk choc) and you've got a HEALTHY banana bread!!! ;D

I love to bake... I am great at following directions. I am turning into my grandma, though, I just "know" how much to add to make it work. I keep most of my recipes in my head... if I am ever on vacation, I'll remember what to do. Ha. This is one of my favorites. I did not develop it, but I've been making it ever since I was a little girl. It's a vegan chocolate cake (I'm not vegan, but if you have little ones that are allergic to milk and eggs, it's great!) 3 c. flour 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. cocoa 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. oil 2 tsp vinegar 1 tsp vanilla 2 c. cold water Frosting (I have a recipe for buttercream frosting... it's not vegan) Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan or 2 9" round pans. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside. Combine oil, vinegar, and vanilla in separate bowl. Mix the oil mixture, along with the water, into the flour mixture. Stir well- about 1 minute. Pour immediately into pan(s). Bake for about 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. FROSTING 1/2 cup butter, softened 2 oz. semisweet chocolate, melted 1 1/4 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg (optional) Cream all ingredients together and spread over cake. I have no idea what the egg is for... it's my grandma's old recipe and I've made it without egg and it turns out fine.

I'm glad someone is great at following directions in recipes. I always have to change something and I rarely measure. (which is why I can't make candy) I recently came across a great recipe. Even though it's cooking and not baking, it's too good not to share. I had to modify it due to time restraints the day I made it. Here it is, with my modifications:
Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast
2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts 3/4 cup chopped apples 4 Tablespoons shredded cheese, whatever you like 2 Tablespoons dried bread crumbs 1 Tablespoon butter 1/4 cup chicken broth 1/4 cup water
Combine apples, cheese, bread crumbs. Flatten the chicken breast. Put some apple mixture in each and roll up, securing with a toothpick. Not all of the mixture will fit. Melt butter in 7" skillet. Brown chicken. Add broth and water. Dump the remaining apple mixture on top. Cover and simmer 15-20 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink.
