I have a dr appt next thursday to get on the pill for a couple cycles. I think my body needs a break from all the pcos stuff. This is going to be so hard!

(((((((hugs)))))))) Have you talked to your dr about what your options are and if there are other options besides bcp? (I just don't know too much about PCOS besides the symptoms!) Melody

I go to the dr on Thurs. I haven't talked with her about this yet. It's just something I decided to do. (After alot of praying!) I think letting my body "reset" might be a good thing. I know Erik needs a break too. He's been really frustrated with me lately with the whole ttc issue.
I don't know enough about the pcos thing either. There's always something new being "discovered" with it, so it's hard to keep up. I do know that a number of women have had luck getting pg after being on the pill for a while. (It gives your ovaries a chance to recover a bit from the pcos symptoms.) So we'll see what happens.

Hugs, hon. Have you ever been on the pill before?

Yep. I've been on the pill several times since I was 17. The longest time was over a year. (Not pcos related though. That was before we started ttc in '03.)

I only ask because those with PCOS sometimes have nasty side effects from the pill. I bled everyday with one kind and had a migraine every day with another. Not fun.
I'll be thinking of you, hon, as you take this break. I hope it brings you some peace of mind and rest.

Heidi, Funny you should bring up the s/e on bcp's for pcos! After my dd was born, I was put on progesterone only pills. I bled every day for over a month! It even took me a while to get used to LoEstrin after that. Before my dd was even a thought, I was on Desogen. Made me so sick! The best thing I've found is the Ortho lines. Tri-Cyclen worked for quite a while, then I had breakthrough bleeding for a month. (Most likely due to the stress caused by a certain family member...long story... ) Then onto Ortho Cyclen. I gained a few pounds on that one.

You should check with your doctor, you may have other options. I have PCOS too. I was on the pill for almost 10 yrs before coming off it. It only took me 7 months to conceive my first child 4 yrs ago. I've never been on the pill since although I tried the contraceptive injection and had a really bad reaction to that - all the symptoms of early pregnancy without the joy of being pregnant together with severe headaches on a daily basis. I've since had 1 suspected m/c last summer then got pregnant last September. But I caught a virus and was forced to deliver my baby early or die. My daughter died the same day she was born.
