There's been a 'spot' on his lung for a year and a half now and no matter how much I've whined about it he just was following the dr's wait and see plan. Now there are 4 spots....2 in each lung. Results from the PET scan were not good and he is scheduled for a biopsy this week.
Two weeks ago he got a letter from a group of lawyers....of the 36 men on his boat while serving in Vietnam, 12 survived the war. 1 died in a car crash 10 years ago and the other 10(not incl my daddy) have been diagnosed with a form of cancer that comes from being exposed to asbestos. :'(All are terminal and have a lawsuit. :'(My daddy is such an upstanding man that he says no matter what he won't get in on the suit because he VOLUNTEERED and he chose to serve his country, that he loves and would do again in a second.
Please send him prayers. My grandfather, his dad, died from lung cancer when I was a teen and my daddy refuses to think about any treatments.
I can't lose someone else right now...I don't think I could take it.
Update:
He goes in on Monday July 16 for a 'bronchioscopy' because the dr's didn't want to do the biopsy just yet. Please, if you can, continue to keep my daddy, Earl James Kelsay Jr., in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks!
Update#2:
Everything went well with the procedure. Dr skipped around the 'C' word without ever saying it but...we know. There are now just 2 spots they are concerned about: a large mass in his left lung that will need to be removed and a smaller one in his right that they feel can be radiated. So, now we're heading down this path and Daddy is actually talking about treatments(enough crying really CAN make a difference! ). But on the bright side, none of his lymphnodes 'lit up' on the PET scan so that is a good sign that it's contained. Just keep the prayers coming if you could....we'll know more on Friday.
Thank you all!

It is cancer. Waiting on the surgeon to call to give us a surgery date. That's about all I can say right now.
Oh yeah...and they found a 'suspicious' spot on his kidney too. Keep the prayers coming.
