OMG I had 2 horrible morning sickness days ( which are 24 hrs actually). Nothing wanted to stay down. I have so many pulled muscles from strain. I took my left over Zofran from last Summer. It helped stop the trampoline in my diaphragm area but I am still WAYY nauseous and the side effects of Zofran for me are a catch 22.
I can take 8mg 2x in a 24 hr. period. I think I am going to need more. This pregnancy is reminding me of my pregnancy with my dd an awful lot. I threw up the whole 41 weeks!!! Yikes ladies I am scared.
My df is really helping me out with constantly checking on me and making sure I am comfortable. I think about my ex (a reason to puke) and think about all the opportunities he had to care and was cruel instead.
I did some reading on Zofran nowhere does it say it's been tested and safe during pregnancy. I know it commonly used but I am still paranoid.

You are correct in that using it for morning sickness or hyperemesis in pregnancy is an off-label use. But it has been safely used for this for many years, which is why it is prescribed so often. It's just hard to do a research study on some things. 16mg/day is quite a low dose. I wouldn't have any reservations with that. With Allie I was on 24 mg/day. With TJ, I was on at least 36 mg/day and some days more.

Then I feel so freaked out that I have to wait another 12 hrs before the next does. I am calling now to get more. I cannot live like this. I will end up hospitalized for dehydration and the vomiting is going to hurt my neck that is already badly injured. THANKS! I am calling my ob right now for more!

The "normal" dose an OB gives is 8 mg 3x a day for 24 mg/day. Some will up it to 4x a day to get to 32 mg/day (maybe only high risk OBs do this, not sure). I was on the pump with a dose of 32 mg/day, but got 2 extra 2 mg doses during my worst times of the day (and on really bad days even more extra doses). Just remember to start taking something now for the constipation it causes! Miralax worked wonders for me. BTW - don't think I was around when you got your BFP - congratulations!

I appreciate your reply beyond words! The dr called back and said to increase my dose to every 6 hrs instead of 12. It's being called into CVS so I will know the mg when I (if) get there. Df should be able to pick it up on the way home. Ummm about the downside (literally!) of using Zofran...It STOPS everything. I haven't been able to (u know ) in 2 days so I am already off to a bad start. I don't want to push or have any cramping that will scare me more than I am already frightened. I am happy to hear that Miralax can be used. When my mother comes to visit I FORCE her to use that because she gets so sick and ends up in the ER (long story due to too much internal scarring from abdominal surgeries) AGain THANKS FOR SO MUCH HELP and for the congrats on my Bfp. I am still in shock. We didn't try very hard this month because of df's shift work and pneumonia.

They gave me a precription for this "just in case" but I don't need it yet. Last time i took phenegarn (promethazine) and it worked for me, I'm not sure why they gave me anything different this time, I'd rather take what i have taken in the past. I will talk to my dr next time I go back..

I was one who threw up the entire time with my last 2 and was on zofran the ENTIRE TIME! I have a healthy happy 9 year old and healthy, happy, into everything, almost 2 year old. Other than the constipation you will feel so much better. Nothing else would help me. It was horrible! Congrats!!
