((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) I am glad you are going to find another doctor. You want one that will do everything that is medically possible to keep that little one alive, not someone that will just give up.

Get a new dr ASAP! Last week was a fetal pole and no heartbeat. This week was a HB at 97. If you are at 5 weeks, that is EXACTLY where you should be!!!! There are plenty of women that have had a subchronic hemmorage and did fine and had healthy babies. I would not do ANYTHING till it was determined that heartbeat was GONE. How are your blood tests looking now?

Oh sweetie I’m so sorry you’re going through this. :0( When I found out I was pregnant with Gideon I had light spotting that would stop for WEEKS and then return out of nowhere. The ultrasound showed that I had a very large blood clot right beside the “fetal pole” and on the other side was a huge ovarian cyst. I was told many many times that “it didn’t look good” I was told that the blood clot was shedding but could signal my body to go into a m/c or if the cyst kept growing it would dislodge the “fetal pole” I’m not trying to give you false hope but my “doesn’t look good” baby is sound asleep right now. (((((((((HUGS))))))))) Jessica, NC Fetal Heart Beat Using endovaginal scanning, fetal cardiac activity is often seen even before a fetal cell mass can be identified. The fetal cardiac muscle begins its' rhythmic contractions, and that rhythmic motion can be seen along the edge of the yolk sac. Initially, the fetal cardiac motion has a slower rate (60-90 BPM), but cardiac rate increases as the fetus develops further. Thus, for these early pregnancies, the actual cardiac rate is less important that its presence or absence. I got that from this website: www.brooksidepress.org/Products/Military_OBGYN/Ultrasound/1st_trimester_ultrasound_scannin.htm

The normal fetal heart rate usually varies somewhere between 120 and 160 beats per minute (bpm) throughout pregnancy, but in the early part of the first trimester, the baby's heart rate can be slower. A 1996 study established the following as the minimum normal heart rates in early pregnancy ultrasounds, with the size varying by the size of the fetal pole: •2 mm embryo: 75 beats per minute •5 mm embryo: 100 beats per minute •10 mm embryo: 120 beats per minute •15 mm embryo: 130 beats per minute Another website: miscarriage.about.com/od/immediatemedicalconcerns/qt/normalfetalhr.htm

I'm getting mad too. How they know what you can afford in terms of blood thinners? ? I was told that Lovenox was going to cost me $600 a month, yet my insurance covered all but $30 of it. I guess I don't know your diagnosis situation, but I'm pretty sure that money should never be the reason they don't give you the option. I agree, if you are five weeks, this is exactly where you should be. When I went to see the RE when I was 6 weeks pg with Aubrey, I'm fairly sure they didn't even measure the heartbeat, because it was so early and they said it would be lower than normal. I also agree that there are a lot of women here who had a subchorionic hemmorhage that turned into a healthy baby. Its definitely time to be your own advocate and get away from that office and those docs who seem all to willing to give up.

Oh, and my SIL had a subchronic bleed, pretty bad in the 1st trimester, and that baby is now 1 month old, only born 4 days early! She did have to take it easy, though, and got help around the house and with her toddler from her mom.

I think some doctors need a class in how to treat people with kindness. They talk to women like "o this one is not going to work just go get pregnant again" and forget it. It is so cold sometimes. I pray things will work out. I believe that doctors are a help but its God who has the say. Stay encouraged. ((((hugs and prayers))))

Tori, could you tell how big the hemorrhage was compared to the sac? I have had that with both hy and sophia, and have two living children to show for it
