Hi, I know they like you to have 3 or more follicles, but I had one and I got pregnant the first time. We were so happy. Good luck, Heidi Actually they prefer you to have no more than two, they def dont want you to have 3 and up of follicles. Each follicle can result in two babies. Unless you want to be john and kate plus 8 I would be careful

I'm glad to see that so many of you had good luck with the IUI. I'm set to do it one day (TUES, WED, or THURS) of this week. I'm praying it works the first time out. But will have it done and wait and see. Thanks for all of your encouraging words to go on. Thanks, Melissa

We are trying IUI, and were curious of how successful everyone has been with IUI; how many times did you have the procedure before you got pregnant? This is our first time with the IUI trials, any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I had mild PCOS and my husband's sperm counts are low and less motile. He is on medicine as well I am. I am taking Clomid from 3rd day to 7th day, going for Ultrasound from 12th day. I also take Metformin 850 as well as Follic Acid daily. Now, my PCOS is cured. I have 2 failed IUIs . From last 2 months , I had 2 folicals each time with more then 18 mm size, and IUI done with washed sperm, having 90% motility. what could be reason of failure? Any idea?? Please help...

I was glad to find this thread. I have had two mc's in the last 6 months and went to an RE. We did all of the tests. My HSG was normal, blood results were all good for ovarian reserve. Also no PCOS or problems getting pg. My dh's sperm came back as normal but lower than desired number of normal-shaped sperm. My RE wants to do clomid days 3-7 and IUI. I'm going to call today, but I am skeptical that we need IUI. Our results on the last mc came back as genetically normal. We are on the fence about whether to do IUI or try a couple of cycles supplemented with the hormones first. Has anyone else tried that?

i have just started to see the assistied conception services at my local hospital and i have decided to go for the IUI. i was just wondering what the success rate is? i will be doing the injections as i have tried clomid and was unsecessful. Is it a better change doing the FSH injections?

Ladies, thank you so much for sharing your stories. My prayers go out to those who have lost their babies. I have 5 children with my ex husband and have been trying for 3 years with my new husband and no sucess. I reaaly would like to have one more child. I am 29 and he is 33. He has 4 children in previous relationships, but we dont know where the problem lies. Any advice where to start in this process would be greatly appreciated. IUI with his sperm or donor sperm seems to be an option, but I dont have a lot of information.

I have been lurking on infertility websites for over one year, crying and laughing with everyone's stories. I know its really really tough, i had 25 cycles of unhappy outcomes, and my husbands and my disappoinment, with the whole advancing age thing lurking over our shoulders.
We've been trying for around 2 years, i just turned 37, so we were gtting quite anxious. we're one of those couples with unexplained infertility.
i have been on clomid 150mg from days 2-6, for the 3rd cycle. this time we also went for IUI, with an ovidrel injection to ensure the eggs(there were 2) released. I just got my first ever positive test this morning.. :-D i cannot tell you how happy we are, but i want to contain my excitement until the blood test at the doctors confirms it on Monday!
I also tried acupuncture once every week for around 3 cycles. I also took Chinese herbal medicines for one cycle in conjuction with the acupuncture - but my husband was not too happy about that. I made my diet healthier. I started exercising less (after ovulation) and until I got my period.
We were talking about IVF, and searching for clinics. I was considering adoption but I know my husband was not ready for that conversation.
Emotionally I have been through so much, with contemplating suicide just 2 cycles ago as I was so distraught/lost/fely my life was meaningless, despite having an amazing job and fabby husband.
And now - I just can't believe it! It's a miracle, and I really really thank modern science.
Please don't give up until you have tried all your avenues.
Love and baby-dust all around xxx

HI,
I am 27 years old, about to be 28, and my husband and I have been TTC since January. I went off birth control (after 10 years) last December and since then have not had a period. I was diagnosed with functioning hypothalamic amenorrhea. Weight is fine, I have cut back on exercise and my dr. says it has to be stress. I started accupuncture a month ago, have been taking yoga. I also had an estrogen/progesterone challenge last month and I did get my period. My dr says next step is IUI as my brain is not producing the FSH my body needs. I am starting birth control today for one month so I have a day 1 later this month. I will then start the cycle with gonadtrophin injectibles and the IUI. The dr says everything is working fine, so she will start me on the lower dosage and suggests intercourse as opposed to insemination at this point, given my age, etc. Hubby is getting tested as well. I am just looking for some hope and advice. It is so hard going through this. All my friends are starting to get pregnant, almost by mistake. It scares me to death to know that I am still young and I already have to go through this.

Hi, I'm new to this. Just wanted to let anyone interested know that my husband and I were trying for 5 years to have another child. We have a 5 yr old daughter and since then had been told we had unexplained infertility. So finally after getting settled in Ohio, we consulted our doctor and she referred us to fertility spec and he put me on 50mg of clomid (days 3-7) to insure ovulation and following an iui. It was a little uncomfortable during the procedure but once it was done I felt normal. I am happy to say that I am now 5 weeks! So don't rule iui out because it worked the first time.

We tried for 8 years on our own but dh's cancer and radiation has made it impossible to conceive. I also have PCOS and after doing the HcG diet, I started ovulating on my own! The doctor then put me on 500mg Metformin 2x day even through pg to be sure. So we decided on IUI with a sperm donation. I ovulated on my own without a trigger shot or anything else. I'd actually ovulated several hours before we went in for the IUI. It was our first IUI and I got pg. Good luck!
