Seriously guys. I'm getting really fed up with this baby's face. I mean, she's so sweet and adorable and I hate this. It's so bad on her right cheek that she's actually scratching at it and making it bleed. It's also all broke out/rough on her other cheek and on the upper part (near hair-line) of her forehead. I've mentioned it to the ped a few times only for them to say try vaseline, or try this or that. Well, I've tried it all and nothing works! It's not the worst case that I've ever seen but still.... And it's always there but at times is worse than others. It's really weird. Today it's absolutely horrible! Any suggestions? I've tried the baby aveeno products and some other eczema baby products (forget the brand), vaseline, eccurin (sp?), and a few other things that I can't even remember. ETA: In Florida her face looked AWESOME! But, on the day we left to go back home it started breaking out again.

Send me a piccy ~ if it looks like Sammi's did last time its red/blotchy/spotty in some areas & scaley/scabish looking - they gave us this Eucerin Cream (not the think ointment) & said not to use anything thick/heavy/oily on her. Jeremy gave her oatmeal baths then too, didn't use any soap (the oatmeal bath works as a soap) & that helped, we just wiped her face with nothing but water for a while too.

I would schedule an appt with a dermatologist (sp???) and get it looked at. I STILL think it is a form of eczema. And the thing with that is you have to decrease bathing andstuff like that. We currently have 3 different levels of products to use for Lucas and each level has 2-3 creams we use in different spots. Basically I have named level 1 as the bad level, level 2 is the in between level and level 3 is more preventative for the rare days his skin is doing well. It couldn't hurt to have it checked out by a pro!

The actual wash I use on her is the aveeno oatmeal bath stuff for eczema. I try not to really put it on her face. The weird thing is that when I don't give her a bath her face is WORSE??? I know, Kelly, that with eczema you aren't supposed to bathe every day. However, when I don't give her a bath she is a lot worse. It's really strange.
I would like to avoid a dermatologist appt, only b/c I need to go myself and don't have the time. I really think we have enough dr's (including an allergist, pediatrician, AND pediatric ENT) plus a dentist. But, if I have to, I have to.LOL

Girl I hear ya! We have our pediatrician, pediadentist, dermatologist, endocronologist (sp?), rheumatologist, neurologist, gastroentonolblah blah gist ~ and this is just for the kids!!! But seriously, Jen if it is bothering you and you can't figure out why ~ take her just for an eval! It could even be an allergy! Have you tried a food diary in connection with the rash? on one side of paper you put the status of the rash and on the other everything she has eaten for about a week. There are sooo many things it could be...and if she is scratching herself and making herself bleed...then she can't be too comfortable

Does she get Free & Clear everything? Soap/lotion/detergent - does the babysitter use anything on her sheets or her clothes that Maddie would be rubbing against? I have to check with Sammi's daycare about their sheets - she rubs her face back & forth on whatever she lays on when she's trying to go to sleep. Does her sitter wipe her face with babywipes?
Spit can make you break out too . . . I know this through a friend - they can rub their hands all over their face & the spit/milk/babyfood/snot mixture can irritate their skin. Kinda like an impetigo thing (I know I didn't spell that right)
Maybe her skin has too much oil & needs the daily washing . . .

WalMart ~ we have a big thing of it . . . doesn't help Sammi. That's the thick greasy kind of Eucerin we were told not to use on her orginally (it's great on keeping her hair tamed & detangled though) It clogs up her pores & the Dr said that she has naturally oily skin & it's not releasing right something to that effect . . . sounds like she's already a teenager!!!! LOL

I've never seen it in the baby section before. Maybe it's in the regular section with the adult face wash stuff. I think I'll just let it be until her six month check up on the 2nd or 3rd (can't remember) and talk to her ped again.

We use Aquaphor (sp?) for Luke's face which he hates LOL and Eucerin (both are found in our Walmart "lotion" section) for the rest of his body (except for the patches they get some other special stuff LOL) when he isn't doing too bad. I have ezc on my hands and I use Aqua but HATE it!!!

Have you tried washing her only with Cetaphil? It is a non-foaming cleanser with no scent that is really good on "weird" skin. I use it myself and also on the kids when they have patches of funky skin stuff. Caroline has occassional eczema and it really helps clear it up. Also, I know that you aren't supposed to give lots of baths with eczema but it always helped Caroline as long as I didn't use anything but Cetaphil and luke warm water. I had tried Aveeno, Eucerin and Vaseline and nothing worked. Then I got Cetaphil and also put a dab of some 1 % hydrocortisone cream on her patches after the bath it cleared it up. No other lotions, creams or anything. I found that all the products geared towards babies just made things worse. My ped said it was b/c most of them are heavily fragranced. Too bad b/c I love the smell. GL

Jen
First find out what everyone puts on her face, and I mean everyone even the boys.
It is highly likely the sitter is wiping her face off with either a soapy washcloth washed in her detergent or most likely a baby wipe.
Second tell everyone what to use and make sure to send those products, only use dye free, newborn ultra sensitive baby wipes, dye free/perfume free soaps/shampoos etc.
Use dye free, perfume free detergents if you can get amway products they are the best for excema or use cheer free, tide free is harsher and not as great on tiny baby clothing.
Make sure to wash the tub out with lysol or 409 only and rinse the tub with super hot water and let dry before putting her in for a tub.
Air dry clothes as often as possible.
Avoid touching her face, with your hands or anyones hands and don't let her rub her face.
I know it is a pain to have so many drs. but she needs to see a dermatologist.
We have always had asthma/allergist, pediatrician, neurologist, dermatologist, pediatric dentist, chiropractic and many others as needed still do.

Nope, her sitter knows what's going on with her face. Trust me, she's not putting anything but what I've provided her to put on it. And, if it were the detergent wouldn't the rest of her skin break out? Maybe not since the face is more sensitive. My boys don't put things on her face!LOL (Ok, well maybe they sneak something but I wouldn't know what? Well, I've seen Holden try to sneak her a snack before.LOL)
Too many dr's! That's nuts! I think I'll try to see what the ped says first. It's either that or quit my job b/c I wouldn't have time to take her to all these doctors!
Jen~I use cetaphil wash and cream (thanks to Buckeye-Jen's recommendation) and have used the cream on her but was afraid to use the wash but maybe I'll try that on her tomorrow. It can't hurt!
