Do we have room for another board? Maybe under the potpourri board?

YES! i think that this would be a great idea! There are times that reading a good laugh and making the heart merry would be a wonderful retreat!

Dear SG Family,
I've been thinking and thinking about how to set this up without being offensive to those who are in deep grief and might not want to see anything even remotely close to a laugh.
I have two ideas and need some feedback from you before making a final decision.
1) Make a board that is a "post only" admin board that will be called "Smile for the Day" (rather than laugh). It would be in the section of the message boards by the suggestions and announcements.
OR
2) I can put the "Smile for the Day" on the homepage of the website where it is completely away from the grief boards so as not to be offensive to anyone who might not be ready for something lighthearted. (on the home page by the articles, sign-up for the "Hope for the Day", newsroom, etc.)
Your thoughts, please.
Also, I would like to take submissions (I'll give you the guidelines) so that I can post them. I'd like to read them first to make sure of the appropriateness.
I'm still not sure if it would be a "daily" smile, or a "weekly" smile for the day. I'll probably start out with a weekly smile to see how well received it is. I personally think we need a break from the heaviness of grief sometimes--just to give our minds and hearts a brief respite from the pain.
Thoughts and/or suggestions about where to place this "smile thought."
Love, Clara ;D

Just seeing this post now, Clara. I like the idea of putting it on the homepage as to not offend anyone.

definitely on the homepage would be the best and someone new that is deep in grief and just found sg, may just pause and get a little smiley and that would be perfect

Would this be simply laughs, jokes, that kidn of stuff.....
Or would we move the light hearted stories that we share about our children to that board also???
I guess that the answer to that question would determine how I would answer where to put it at. If we are going to move the light hearted stories about our children to the board then I would say make the board on this page.
If it is simply going to be jokes and email type stuff that we receive....Then I would say on the home page...
Any thoughts??

If it was a story about our kids, we could make it generic, such as: a/ my DS today was drinking OJ and told me that "the orange juice was so strong it made steam come out his ears". which becomes b/The Mom wondered what brand of OJ she had picked up when her 6 year old told her that it was so strong it made steam come out his ears.
Turn them into stories like you would read in Reader's Digest, that kind of thing. What do you think of that idea? Cynthia

Dear SG Members, I think we've had PLENTY of feedback about people wanting a place on SG where we can get a laugh a day. ;D Not everyone will be at a point in his/her grief to be ready to share a laugh, but that option to NOT READ the laugh will be available to those who are not quite ready yet. I will try to have things set up not later than this weekend. Thanks so much for your input! Love, Clara

I'm still trying to work out the details of TSB (the smile board) or LAD (laugh a day). ;D I think it's going to be a great addition (and brief retreat from the heavy stuff of life).
